| We did not travel to some far away, exotic
country. We were simply driving by a neighborhood just half a
mile from our house when I saw a herd of sheep and goats roaming the
hillside. I alerted Mr. BAW who was driving to turn around and
park so the kids can see it. I had no idea that we ended up being
invited down to see the animal up close and personal! Turns out
that our neighboring city hired a farm from up north to bring their
livestock down to eat away the dry brush as fire prevention.
Because the goats and sheep are from a farm and many of them were
hand fed, they were all super docile and friendly. The kids loved
them, especially Buzz. He was off on his own amongst the animals.
Aghoo was a little apprehensive, but that's ok. I want the
kids to respect the animals. At one point, another older kid
decided to run towards a herd and scare them. Well, they started
to run toward us and some of them had large horns. So I had a to
pick up Ahgoo because they would've run her over. I was not too
happy with that kid. But overall, the animals were very, very
docile. There were lots of babies too, they were super cute.
This was definitely a one of a kind experience and we were lucky
to have caught it. |
The kids had a great time.

Can you believe that it was fourteen years ago that this sweet, furry guy was born? Two months later, he came home with me.
I remember that day like it was yesterday. Each day I feel
blessed that Toby is still enjoying the life he has with us. He
enjoys patrolling the backyard barking at the neighbor cats, "talking"
with the dogs at both sides of the neighbor, and letting all the hikers
walking by our house know that he rules our street. A few weeks
ago, the kids called me into the family room saying, "Mama, come look!"
When I went into the room, I saw each kid holding each of Toby's
ears up, turning Toby into a German Shepard! The kids were
giggling and Toby had a "can they do this?" look on his face. But
he loves the kids and loves being near them when they play.
Last
month, we did extensive blood work on Toby as part of his senior
wellness check up. The results show that he has Cushing's
Syndrome, which is a slow progressing disease that we have chosen not
to treat. But the main symptom is that he is very prone to
urinary tract infection (UTI). After one round of antibiotics,
I've been trying to manage his recurring UTI by giving him apple cidar
vinegar (ACV) twice a day mixed with wet food. Sometimes he will
eat it, most of the time I just pry his mouth open and force feed it to
him. It's definitely been hard to battle the recurring UTI.
I've
had to increase his ACV dosage to four tablespoons per feeding and if I
even delay giving him the ACV
by an hour, his UTI comes back immediately. But since he's been
on regular ACV Toby's been happier and more active. Apparently,
there are many benefits of feeding dogs ACV daily. At the ripe
old age of fourteen, Toby doesn't look a day over eight! We love
him so much and we are greatful to have him with us each and everyday.
How
wonderful it is that this year, Mother's Day happens to be on Toby's
birthday! Happy Mother's Day to all those moms out there.
Buzz had a homework assignment to draw a picture of me. So
I told him to work on it while I took care of a few things around the
house. I fully expected him to draw his typical stick figures of
a person that somewhat resembles me. But when I returned to check
on his progress, he had drawn a complex picture of me in my garden
planting a tree! It is so amazing to see things through the eyes
of my kids. I didn't think that they knew how much I love to
garden. I guess my kids are more observant than I give them
credit for. Ahgoo's school put together a fancy tea party for all
the mamas and showered us with flowers songs and handmade gifts.
I am a very lucky woman! Happy Mother's Day to all
the Moms out there. Expect to find me eating crab on Mother's
Day. :-) | Happy 14th birthday to our beautiful furry baby!

Ahgoo colored a picture of me. She did a great job!
