Ahgoo
will be turning 18 months old at the end of the month. This is a
big milestone for us because when she turns 18 months old, she will be
attending Buzz's pre-school!! One drop-off in the morning, I
simply can not wait!! Also, I'm excited that the kids will be
able to see each other all day long, even if they will be in different
classes. It's comforting to know that they will have each other
during the day.
As we approach this big milestone, there
is a small part of me that is sad. My little baby girl is growing
up!! I wish I can bottle her soft skin and baby smell! Here are
some things I want to remember about her at this precious age:
-To
ask what something is Ahgoo will point to it and ask,"This?" When
you tell her what it is (ie car, book, cow...) she'll respond with a
precocious,"Ohhh..." as if to say, "Now I understand..."
-If Ahgoo wants to come up on the couch she'll say,"Up?" If she wants to go down she'll also say,"Up?"
-If
you tell Ahgoo to say,"Up please!" She'll respond defiantly,"No!"
or "Uh Uh!" I'm positive she's going to be a defiant teen!
-If we stop at a red light while driving, she'll command me to "GO!"
-Ahgoo's
favorite words are cup, puppies, babies, girl, tuk (truck), guh-guh
('big brother' in Chinese), daddies, mommies, no, eat, cookies, kah
(car), bubbles, this, up, ah-ah (monkeys), oh, Buzz (for both Buzz
Lightyear and Woody), shoes, ball, and cheese.
-She loves to stick her index finger into my mouth and when I lick her finger she squeals with delight.
-She's
much more into boy toys like cars and Buzz Lightyear than she is in
dolls and bunnies. Her favorite animal is monkey.
-Ahgoo
still hates getting her nails clipped but can sometimes be distracted
by an episode of Curious George, her favorite ah-ah.
| I love this little girl so much!!

On Saturday mornings, we let the kids watch a couple of episodes of Curious George
before we leave for Chinese school. In one episode called "Signs
Up", George was trying to figure out where all the street signs go.
One of the signs was a "No Dogs Allowed" sign, which of course
George mistakenly placed by Hundley! So in my attempt to engage
the kids, I asked Buzz if he would like to make a "No Big Bad Wolf
Allowed" sign. He immediately said "Yes!!" It's been over a
year since his obsession with the Big Bad Wolf
first began. So we got a sheet of paper and I copied a picture of
a wolf from a Three Little Pig placemat that actually belonged to Mr.
BAW when he was a kid! I was going to tape the sign to their
bedroom door but Buzz insisted that we tape it to our front door (on
the inside so that he can see the sign.) He wanted to prevent the
Big Bad Wolf from not only coming into his room but from coming into
the house! By the way, Buzz's favorite character from Curious George is Jumpy
the Squirrel and his favorite episode is "Curious George Meets The
Press" when Jumpy gets trapped on the apple press. Ahgoo also
loves Curious George since she loves monkeys. She calls Monkeys
"Ah Ah" since we tell her that Monkeys say "Oo Oo Ah Ah!" So
whenever George comes on the TV, she points and says "Ah Ah!" She
can spot a monkey on someone's shirt or on a box at the store from
miles away! :-) She of course sleeps with a little blue
monkey as well. | Hopefully, the Big Bad Wolf will heed the sign!
| Of course, this Big Good Wolf can stay. :-)

For his 39th birthday, I took Mr. BAW to the Hollywood Bowl.
Yes, we have been to the Bowl many times in the past.
However, this one particular show is a very special one.
The show featured John Williams, considered
to be one of the greatest film composers of all time, and Julie Andrews
(she needs no introductions!) John Williams composed Mr. BAW's
favorite music of all times, the Superman theme. But that
evening, you can tell just from walking up the hill to the seats
that it was going to be a huge Star Wars night. There were so
many people carrying lightsabers that I thought we were at Comic Con! The
weather was perfect. It was a hot day but by dusk the weather
cooled off and the temperature stayed in the low 70's with no wind.
I didn't even need a sweater! We also packed a nice dinner
from Whole Foods, including two very nice desserts. Unlike all
the geeks and nerds there, I was actually very excited to see Julie
Andrews. She presented a tribute to her late husband, Blake
Edwards, and Henry Mancini. After the intermission, the energy
really picked up! John Williams conducted the most anticipated
song of the entire evening, the Imperial March, Darth Vaders' theme
song. When that song came on, the whole Bowl shook with screams
and the lightsabers were all swinging! It was quite an
experience to see, my pictures do not do justice to the amazing saber
glow that vibrates with the music! There was only one
disappointment in the show, they did not perform the Superman
theme! But overal, we thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was
wonderfully strange to not have to bring diapers and sippy cups with
us! :-) | Beautiful evening to be at the Bowl.
| Moon River, one of my favorite moments of the show.
| The lightsabers!
| The Imperial March!
