Happy Leap Day!!  Also, happy birthday to our friend Rosa who turns 10 this year...well, she turns 40 but only got to officially celebrate her actual birthday 10 times.   So today, my bosses and co-workers threw me a baby shower at work!  It is especially meaningful since the average age of my company is about 65, most of my co-workers are beyong the baby stage of their lives.  They got me adorable stuffed creatures, cake, baby food games, balloons (see the stork above), and tons and tons of diapers along with other gifts and cards.  I really can't thank my co-workers and friends enough!

Since today is Leap Day, we naturally discussed the tough question of which day would you least want to be born on.  With our little boy two years ago, his due date was January 5.  But I desparately wanted to avoid Christmas being his birthday.  January 1st was a possibility as well, but I was not as averse to that day.  This time, we're going to do everything we can to avoid giving birth on April 1st, our baby's due date!  Someone mentioned that they would not want a girl to have her birthday on Valentine's Day!  Another co-worker was born on Mother's Day, which I thought was kind of nice.  But he told me that he always feel like it'a all about his mother!  Haha.  I think the worst day for me is Christmas, not only will you get a combined birthday-Christmas gift, you actually have to give other people gifts as well!  Plus, you have to wait an entire year for your birthday, only to be short changed!

Lastly, pregnancy update...I'm still huge, baby is super active, espcially when I lie down at night.  My belly literally shifts from side to side and I can feel knees and elbows moving about.  My hips hurt every morning and my lower back will not allow me to stand for longer than 5 minutes.   My doctor also started me on the Nonstress Test twice a week to monitor baby's heart rate.  So far everything looks great.  She's also head down, in perfect birth position!!  I only have one more week of work to go.  Then it's nesting time! :-)

We took a brief trip to Arizona to visit the In-Laws over Presidents' day weekend.  Mr. BAW's brother and his family met up with us there as well.  Though it was a short trip, we had tons of fun.  Our little guy got to hang out with both of his cousins, 7 and 1 year olds.  The boys became fast friends.  My In-Laws somehow managed to borrow tons of toys to entertain the guys.  Everyday, their house looked like a hurricane went throught it with the toys littered everywhere!  Thanks to the Grandparents babysitting, we also got to go on a double date with Mr. BAW's brother and SIL.   That deserves another blog.  But for now, enjoy some pictures from our little trip.

The Grandparents and their three little monkeys.

The cousins, this picture took quite a while to capture, as one can imagine!

A rare moment when all three boys stayed still long enough for an unblurry picture.

Most of the time, the boys spent wrestling and running around...like this.

We visited an old Western town.  Uh oh, is our boy sitting on dynamite??!

Here's a belly shot, at 34 weeks.

I like to take credit for this even though I didn't make it.  I discovered this chocolate mousse recipe from this blog.  This was tauted as the best chocolate mousse recipe ever, using only 2 ingredients, one of which is water!  Every time I ask Mr. BAW to make/bake something he would always have to run to the supermarket because we're missing one or more of the ingredients.  So if something this good only takes one real ingredient and it only takes 5 minutes to make, then the clean up should be just as quick right??  By the way, he cooks and I clean so I'm always excited to find ways for Mr. BAW to make yummy food with less mess.  He's always up for trying new recipes and he's a chocolate lover so this is the perfect recipe to experiment with.  So the verdict?  Yes, it is indeed the best chocolate mousse I've ever had!!  Seriously, better than mousse we had at very fancy restaurants.  And just because he's a true chef at heart, Mr. BAW had to make real whipped cream to go with the mousse.  SO, SO yummy!  I always eat the mousse with equal part chocolate and whipped cream, so I run my spoon straight downt the middle of the brown and white boundary.  :-)

Pregnancy update:  I'm officially ready to have this baby!  I am so craving raw fish, sushi, rice, shark fin soup, a giant cup of mocha blend, Indian food, rice pudding, and a giant piece of tiramisu.  Most of the foods I can't have right now due to my gestational diabtes.   I'm up to 126lbs.  My fingers feel tight, my hips hurt every morning, and I had the most horrible leg cramp two days ago.  I only have another month of work to go.   Then it's getting the house ready for the new baby, getting rid of more baby boy clothes, and packing for the hospital!  Oh, and I STILL have to decide on the baby's middle name!!!

With V-day coming up in less than a week, I thought I'd share a restaurant recommendation with you.  Last year we had a date night to a place called The Little Door in mid town LA.  We received a gift card to the restaurant and had never even heard of it before.  The entrance to the restaurant is literally a discreet wooden door.  You can not see any other part of the restaurant from the street.  But once inside, you are treated to a beautiful setting with quaint garden seating or indoor seating.  The food is French-Moroccan.  The food is quite amazing, with exotic spices mixed with classic French cuisine.  It has also been rated as one of the most romantic restaurants in LA.  We highly recommend this place for a date night.  If you can't get a reservation, we also recommend that you just go next door, to their more casual place called, what else, The Little Next Door.  They have a similar menu but in a more casual and open setting.  I think that The Little Next Door is just as romantic and beautiful in a different way.  It is more French charm with lots of twinkle lights.  Sorry for the fuzzy photos below of The Little Door, but it was really dark!

As for this V-day, I'm just too huge and too tired to go out.  I think I may just request for my favorite cookies....

February started out with a mystery for me.  A few days ago, I picked up the little guy from daycare.  Once we got on the road, he started asking for "bitsy pi-er."  I didn't know what he was saying so I thought I would just placate him by saying "Oh, ok, is that right?"  He kept saying "bitsy pi-er!"  I knew he was asking me for something and that placating him wasn't going to cut it!  So I asked him "Is it a food?"  "No...," he responded, disappointedly.  "Is it your friend?"  "NO!"  "Is it a toy?"  "NNNOOOOOO!!!"  He was getting increasingly frustrated and continued to scream for "bitsy pi-er!!"  The entire drive home, it was me trying to figure out what he wanted, him screaming with frustration.  Finally, we get home and he moved on to other things.  But I could not drop it.  For days, I kept thinking about it, what can it possibly be???  What is "bitsy pi-er????"   Then, last night we went out to dinner and Mr. BAW was driving while I sat in the back seat with the boy.  He once again asked for "bitsy pi-er."  I immediately asked Mr. BAW and he indicated that he doesn't know what it is either.  But he suggested that I should just sing to him to make him forget it.  Then it finally hit me, he had recently learned a new song from school, Itsy Bitsy Spider!!!!!  I sang it to him on the way to school one morning about a week ago!  He wants me to sing Itsy Bitsy Spider to him!!!  Finally, mystery solved!!  Of course now I have to sing that same song for the entire trip to school...
