Baby got his very first knee scrape
over 4th of July weekend!! We were in Chicago and he was playing outside
on the cement and fell. I was lamenting it in the car later that day
and my brother-in-law laughed and said, "One of hundreds to come!" How
true for little boys!?! I just have to get used to the fact that I can't
protect Baby from everything. **Sigh**

We bought this little remote control
from Target for $5. That's about $5 cheaper than getting a toy remote
which Baby doesn't even like. He wants to play with whatever we use,
he wants to be just like us. So to prevent him from playing with our
real remote, we bought him this GE one and didn't put any batteries into it.
So that's the challenge of the moment for an 18 month old toddler, taking
control. Baby is definitely working hard at asserting control over
his world these days. His favorite response to any question is "No!"
Sometimes he'll vary it by saying "No, no!" or "Nope!" Then, just
in the last week, he's learned to say "No way!" I suspect that he may
have picked that up at daycare. "Would you like to eat your dinner?"
"No!" "Do you want your diaper changed?" "No way!" **Sigh**
So goes life with an assertive toddler!! :-) The only thing I would
caution parents of is that the real remote controls do have soft rubber buttons
that younger babies may gnaw off and swallow. Baby is now beyond that
gnawing stage but I still keep an eye on all the buttons and make sure that
none of them are in the threat of falling off.
