.................................................................................................................................................................................

Having been a perpetual student for nearly half of my life, I am still a nerd at heart.  I love visiting college campuses and what better place to take a toddler than a college campus!?  There are no cars to worry about, there are tons of room to run, and there are lots of grassy areas to play on.  If you go on a weekend, there are very few people around so you practically have the whole place to roam around.  We happened to be in the Westwood area so we took Baby to UCLA for some play time last weekend.

We went to my favorite pastry shop in Westwood, Elysee, to pick up some tiramisu for a little picnic by Janss Steps.  It was a slightly chilly day, but still nice.

Baby had a fine time hopping and skipping at various places on campus.  He recently learned how to walk and is eager to go places, independently!  I hope to continue to bring Baby to visit college campuses.  So far, he's been to UCLA, USC, Standford, and UC Irvine.  No matter what path Baby chooses in life, we will encourge him to attend college.  It is the doorway to the rest of the world.

Enjoying our pastries!  That's a tall cup of water for Baby!

Skipping off to Powell Library for some reading.

Picking himself up after a fall at Royce Hall.  Isn't this what college is all about??

Off to classes!

My two favorite scholars!

Last month, we had some amazing weather so we took Baby out for a nice stroller ride along the PV Loop Trail.  This is not a long nor difficult trail.  It's all paved and it goes along the ocean so the view is spectacular.  The trail will also lead you to the Palos Verdes lighthouse.

The only dangerous part is the warning of rattle snakes.  However, there are so many people walking around that I was pretty sure we were not going to have a rattle snake encounter.  But, we did have a rare encounter with another creature on our hike.  We saw a whale off the coast!!  There was a whale watching boat following closely.  I even managed to catch the whale spouting water on camera!!  It was Baby's very first whale sighting, but he didn't seem to be very impressed by it.

We all had a wonderful time and hope to go back to this trail soon, especially now that Baby can walk.  For now, enjoy my pictures from the hike.  We're expecting some more nice weather this weekend so I'm super excited.  We've got some fun things to do with our friend El Dwag.  Happy Friday!

Sorry for the lack of blogging.  I've been experiencing a little bit of blogger's block.  I have lots to share but just haven't gotten enough motivation nor time to put it down on blog!  But I do want to share with you a little quick weekend trip we took to Phoenix Arizona to visit my In Laws.  We did quite a bit considering the short time we spent there.  One of things we got to do was celebrate a belated Valentine's Day.  My In Laws graciously offered to watch our little monkey for us one evening so Mr. BAW and I can enjoy a nice dinner out.  We decided to go to one of the most romantic restaurants in the US, which happens to be Quiessence in Phoenix!  Indeed it was romantic!  The restaurant is situated in the middle of a charming little farm.  There were trees all over, I felt like we were in the middle of an enchanted garden.  It happened to be raining and misting a little while we were there but it just made the whole atmosphere even more romantic.  Granted it was not a cheap meal, but there prefix menu was fantastic.  The chef was very innovative and he plans the menu around the seasonal fruits and vegetables which they grow on their farm.  In short, we loved the setting, the food, and the overall experience at Quiessence.  I highly recommend that you visit this place if you're ever in Phoenix.
