| My
last day being pregnant, ever again!! Baby has not come on her
own so she'll have to be induced. So on my last day as a pregnant
woman I wanted to document how I feel about my pregnancies. I must say
that I do not like being pregnant. No offense to you guys,
kids....if you happen to be reading this 20 years later. I love
you both more than life itself. But I absolutely hate being
pregnant. Toward the last few weeks of both pregnancies I was
incredibly uncomfortable. My hips hurt every morning, every
muscle in my body ached, and I miss my favorite foods and coffee so
much! The first time I was pregnant, I swelled up like a blow
fish, I had no ankles. The second time I didn't experience too
much swelling but I had to inject myself with insulin every night for
three months. That was not pleasant. Both times I had
gestational diabetes and had to restrict my diet, even more than most
other pregnant women. I can't wait to be able to eat raw seafood
again. I can't wait to eat a huge bowl of rice noodle. I
can't wait to drink a huge cup of coffee. I can't wait til I can
sleep on my stomach and hold my two year old agagin. It's been
super hard to tell him that Mommy can't carry him. He doesn't
understand why I can't pick him up and hold him like I used to.
Here he is pointing to my 37-week belly and saying "Belly
button!" He then pulled his own shirt up and pointed to his own
belly button. :-) So farewell pregnancy!! Tomorrow, we will become a family of 5
(including Toby of course!)

| | Wow,
it's raining buckets today in LA! This is the largest amount of
rainfall we've had since last year. Our backyard is completely
flooded. All this rain makes me wonder if our little Water Dragon
baby is going to make her appearance tonight. Last night I had
contractions 10 minutes apart from 2am to 5am. Needless to say, I
didn't get a good night's sleep. But by morning, I managed to
catch a few hours of sleep and the contractions stopped. But I
can feel that I have made more dilation progress as the contractions
are stronger this time. Looks like things are getting real close.
So what does one do on a rainy Sunday afternoon? Take a
good nap of course! We've always had trouble getting our little
guy to take his regular naps on the weekends. He's just not
interested in sleeping in his crib and he's too hyper from playing to
sleep on the couch. So a light bulb finally turned on in my head,
I'll get him a cot, just like the ones they nap on at daycare! I
found this nice one for just $25 on Amazon.
I figure, it's cheap and I can always return it if he doesn't
like it. The first time he saw it, he immediately said, "This is
my bed!" as he patted the cot with his hand. Eureka!! Sure
enough, on Sunday afternoon, I told him it was nap time and he grabbed
his little blanket from his room and took it onto the cot and started
to take his nap!! No fuss, no yelling, just an occasional
"shhhh!" and within 15 minutes, he was out like a light! It's so
great to work with daycare to reinforce good habits. I'm looking
forward to potty training with daycare's help! :-) |

| Random thought...I eat my M&Ms in color
order. I always eat the brown ones first (dark then light), then
yellow, orange, red, green, and finally, if I must, blue. For
some reason, I just don't like eating the blue ones. I think it's
psychological because I feel like they taste less "natural," as if
M&Ms are natural in any way, shape, or form. Do you think the
colors taste different? I remember when they introduced blue, it
was in the early 90's. The company actually held a color voting
at USC, when I was attending college there. I didn't participate
but probably should've if I had known that blue was going to win!
I think purple was an option. I just realized as I was
doing research for this blog that they replaced the light brown with
blue!! No wonder I haven't seen those in a while...I guess since
the mid-90's! What's your favorite M&M color? By the way, no news yet...in case you were wondering. I now suspect that she won't come until the induction. |

 | After a stormy weekend, we got glorious weather to ring in the Vernal Equinox,
otherwise known as the first day of Spring. Since our little
teaser from last week, we have gone into the hospital for regular
contractions one more time on Monday morning at midnight. That
time I had regular contractions 10 minutes apart for about 30 minutes.
But when we got to the hospital, the contractions once again
fizzled out. I was hoping that baby girl would decide to come out
on March 20th, the first day of Spring. How cute would that be??
I was already imagining all the birthday parties with Spring
themes, daisies, butterflies, lady bugs, etc. But alas, she
decided to stay put a bit longer. She'll come when she's nice and
ready I guess! |

 Happy
St. Patrick's Day! I'm so glad that I'm still pregnant because I
do not want our daughter to be born on St. Patrick's Day. But as I'm
typing this sentence, I'm actually having yet another contraction.
My last day at work was March 9th, my due date is April 1st.
So I figure that I have a few good weeks to do some organizing
until the baby will be here. My In-Laws were coming back into
town the last week of March to watch our little guy when we're at the
hospital for the birth. So I decided to take things easy my first
day off from work. I slept in, took Toby out for a long walk, and
worked on finalizing a middle name for the baby. On Tuesday, I
went to my routine Non-Stress Test (NST) thinking nothing of it.
I even planned on going to the market after and grabbing lunch
somewhere. Turns out that the nurse saw a contraction during the
NST and decided to show the doctor. Then the doctor ordered me to
do another NST for an hour. Apparently, I have been having
contractions at 6 minutes apart!! Wow, I didn't even realize
it! Apparently, I thought the contractions were just the baby
balling up. When it does happen, it would kind of take my breath
away but I thought it was just baby kicking my lungs. Staring at the monitor, I realized that the "baby balling up and
stretching" feeling was actually a contraction! The doctor then came to
check up on me and determined that I was 2cm dilated! She told me to
come back in about 6 hours so she can check me again. She also told me
that I can potentially deliver that evening!!!!! WHAT???!!! That can't
be!! I was in shock! So
my head was racing, trying to plan out the next two days with only
about 4 hours. My In-Laws weren't going to be in town til the
last week of March, so I would have to call my mother to come and watch
our 2-year-old for about two days (so she would have to pack
immediately!) But she doesn't drive so my father would have to
drive her to our house in the next hour or so. I'd have to call
Mr. BAW who was still at work to go pick up the boy early so he can
take me back to the hospital at 4pm. I have to pack my overnight
bag and things for the baby. I have to pack two days worth of
food for the boy so my mother can take care of him. I have to
show my mother how to take care of Toby as well! It is amazing
how much one can accomplish under stress! I managed to do
everything, including remembering to eat an early dinner by 3:30pm!
Having experience with giving birth once, I knew exactly what to
pack and what the hospital will provide. I of course made sure we
packed two cameras! When
we got to the hospital, I was strapped to the monitor again. The
doctor came and did another ultrasound. Turns out that my
contractions are not as strong anymore and less regular. I also
have not further dilated. The doctor told us that some women walk
around 5cm dilated and not realize it. So she determined that I
was in pre-labor but have not entered into labor yet. It could be
in a few days or it could be next week. It just depends on if my
contractions progresses. We got to go home and I decided to take
things easy and keep hydrated to keep baby in the womb longer. My
In-Laws ended up coming into town two weeks early, just in case. So
it's been a couple of days now, I can still feel the contractions but
not as regular. I went in for another checkup and I'm now 50%
effaced and 2.5cm dilated. The doctors scheduled me an induction
date just in case she doesn't come before April 1st. But at least
we know we're not going to have a St. Patrick's Day baby! :-)
Too bad she didn't make Pi Day (Marrch 14.) But our
friend's new baby girl did, congrats to them!! I'm now shooting
for the first day of Spring, March 20th. :-) |
