October has been quite a doozy of a month in so many ways!  Big, actually, huge changes are brewing for our family.  I will share more on what has happened in October with you once life becomes more stable.  For now, since we still have a few more days left in October I will share with you a parenting tip that I discovered!
Behold the most important toy in our family right now, Buzz Lightyear, the same one that Andy plays with in the Toy Story movies.  Grandma got this gift for Buzz and Ahgoo when she visited us a few months ago.  Well, he had been played with quite a bit and just like Woody in Toy Story II, Buzz suffered an injury.  His foot broke.  So I had to quickly fix him.  As I was doing so, I discovered his voice source, see the grills above his black belt?  I was very happy to discover the grills and I immediately used tape to tape over the them!  You see, this Buzz speaks, and quite loudly!  Like most toys, there is no volume control.  But I discovered that if you simply tape over the grills, then the volume is significantly reduced!  I've done that to most of the noise-making toys we have, including the books that have music and sound makers attached to them.  The kids don't seem to mind nor notice the tape.  So we're all happy!  So start taping fellow parents!  :-)  Happy Halloween, I'll share our kids' costumes with you after our trick or treat adventure.

The kids' pre-school had an organized outing for the families at Tanaka Farms in Irvine.  We've never been to this farm before and ended up having a wonderful time!  They had all the necessary activities to entertain the kiddies, including one of the biggest petting zoos I've ever seen!  Irvine can get a little hot but on that day, it was very pleasant.  We also got to see some of the kids' friends, including a little two-year-old girl who has a big crush on Buzz.  She mustered up a great big "Hi Buzz!" with a smile when she saw him.  He is, like a typical guy, oblivious to her attention!  But there was a cute moment when I told him to hold her hands as they were walking through the corn maze.  Enjoy the pics from our big pumpkin adventure.

Let the adventure start!

Pumpkins, as far as the eye can see.

I loved the petting zoo, maybe even more so than the kids!

Buzz getting the hang of feeding the baby goats.

Sheep, sheep, and more sheep.

Buzz being a gentleman, leading the little girl through the corn maze.

Ahgoo loved to "gwak" by herself.

Buzz picking out his pumpkin.

Pile of Pumpkins.

The wagon ride took us around the entire farm, we even got a demo of a pumpkin launcher.

The giant Jack o Lantern.

Last week Mr. BAW and I went to grab brunch at Le Pain Quotidien in Manhattan Beach.  It is a lovely little place with good old fashion French faire.  But a French bakery is not unusual in LA.  What's unique is that they offer free postcards and postage.  They even have an old fashion mailbox inside the bakery for convenience!  We sent two postcards while we dined. :-)

Postcards with your coffee?

Lovely baked goods.

Love this mailbox!

There are still a few items I would like to share with you from my trip to San Francisco a few weeks ago.  The first item is actually the complementary snack on our flights.  Take a look at what we got below!  When the flight attendant handed me the snack box by LYFE Kitchen, I almost refused one because I thought I had to pay for it.  The snack box had crackers, dip, and veggies.  On the return flight the snack box had a different type of crackers and dip.  The snack box even came with a menu of all the items!  It's the best free snack I've ever had on a flight!

The second item of interest I found are popcorn on the cob!  I saw these in a little food market inside the Ferry Building.  I have never seen this before, apparently you just put the cob into a paper bag and pop it in the microwave.  Here's Martha's demo of how to make popcorn on the cob, perfect for Autumn.

When I saw the next item, I instantly felt joy!  I spotted these adorable magic milk straws in the same little food market where I saw the popcorns.  The reason they made me so happy was that I was in search of something little to bring back to the kids from my trip.  I didn't want to buy them any more toys, heaven knows they've got enough toys.  These straws were a perfect gift for the kids (including one big kid) because all of the kids love milk.  I bought the chocolate and strawberry flavored straws.  So the way it works is that the straws are partially sealed at both ends, allowing milk to flow through but keeping the flavor beads from escaping.  As milk flows through the straw, it melts the beads and flavors the milk.  It was a huge hit with everyone!!  I find that one straw typically lasts through about 6 oz of milk.

The last item I found was in an old cooking store in Chinatown.  I saw this adorable robot tea infuser for $5!  They also had a monkey and a frog one as well.  I drink tea at work every morning so I picked up a robot one.  I also bought a monkey one just because Ahgoo likes monkeys so much.  Amazon also carries them as well as the monkey and the frog ones.

This is not your typical bag of peanuts.

Don't forget the paper bag.

These crazy straws made me happy, they immediately reminded me of my kids!

This little robot made me smile.

My favorite activity from my Girls' Weekend in San Francisco was to visit the Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building.  The weather was perfect for a stroll through the stalls right by the bay.  In addition, there are tons of lovely shops inside the Ferry Building when we wanted to get out of the sun for a break.  The whole time I was browsing, I kept telling my cousin that I have to bring Mr. BAW and the kids when we go back to San Francisco!  The best part is that there is a great little Waterfront Playground at Sue Bierman Park across the street to tire the kids out first.  Then we can throw them into strollers and shop at the Farmer's Market in peace!  Of course this plan will hinge upon not getting rain on our next visit.  Check out my pictures of our shopping trip, I just love all the patterns and colors of the displays.

Inside the Ferry Building.

We had the perfect weather for bayside shopping.

This sign is quintessential San Francisco!

A cute little Bee shop, honey and beeswax candles.

Beautiful candy store.

Mushrooms and more mushrooms!  Check out the Lobster ones.

Cute magnets at the craft section of the Farmer's Market.

I love the rainbow colors of these honey straws.

These intrigued me, are they peppers or eggplants??  Turns out they are indeed Bell Peppers.

I love fresh herbs.

Beautiful Fall flowers.

My favorite picture, the tomatoes were gorgeous, each and every one of them!

After much prodding and pondering, prodding by Mr. BAW's cousin and pondering by myself, I finally decided to take a long weekend trip with her, WITHOUT the husband or the kids!!!  Our cousin is moving to Colorado and she's been trying to get me to go on a girls' trip before she leaves California.  Since I have never been away from the kids overnight, I decided to just do a weekend trip to San Francisco.  It's been about two years since I've been up there so I was excited.  Plus, I get to see one of my best friends, TNK.  She just had a baby about three months ago but she managed to join us for dinner at the Wayfare Tavern one evening.

We had fantastic weather in San Francisco, which is a miracle in itself.  I've never experienced better weather in SF.  The entire weekend was in the high 70's!  I got away with just a light sweater, even in the evenings.  We did tons of shopping and sight-seeing and walked all over the city.  We also got tons of great food, including Dim Sum at City View and a seafood meal at La Mar.  My favorite activity was a visit to the Ferry Building for the Saturday Farmer's Market.  This adventure requires it's own blog post!  For now, I will leave you with tons of pictures from my weekend away from the kids.

This is the very first time I've been away from the kids since conception!  But Mr. BAW was amazing with the kids!  He even took Buzz to his very first movie!  Both kids did well and only asked for me a few times.  I, however, missed them terribly!  But it was nice to be able to shop at fancy gift shops. :-)

Union Square!

Our charming hotel just a block from Union Square.

Someone left their heart in San Francisco!

Shopping Mecca.

I just love the urban vibe of San Francisco.

This building made me smile.

The iconic Transamerica Building.

The Palace Hotel is a must visit destination!

We were planning on getting Afternoon Tea at the Palace Hotel but the timing just didn't work out.
We went in to see the Garden Court anyway.  It was AMAZING!

I love this little tea and spice shop in Downtown.

Urban garden at 101 California.

China Town!!

Yummy Dim Sum at City View.

Beautiful Ferry Building.

A week after Oracle won the America's Cup the sailboats were out in force.

We got to see the Alcatraz Invitational Swim as the swimmers were coming in for the finish.

Dinner at Wayfare Tavern.

This store was all lit up at night!

The Bay Bridge light show was very entertaining.
