................................................................................................................................................................................
Well
I can say now that I survived one week of full time work. Not
surprisingly, work is still the same as I had left it. :-) Some
how, miraculously, we all manage to get out of the house and to
work/daycare/pre-school on time. I am managing amazingly well on
about 4 hours of broken sleep each day. Ahgoo has also done well
at daycare. But I do miss her terribly during the day.
Because she's our last baby, I've been much more aware of her
growth. Every time she outgrows a piece of clothing or baby
product, I am happy to get rid of it. But at the same time, I get
a little sad that I am another day away from having a baby. I
find myself definitely giving her more kisses, smell her hair and skin
more. I wish I can bottle her baby smell so that in twenty years
I'll remember how wonderful she smells. I am thankful that we
survived one week of me going back to work full time. I'm sure
there'll be times when it's not so smooth, but I know we'll get through
it somehow.

Happy
Friday! Or in my case, not so happy Friday. This is my last
maternity leave Friday and I'm very sad. I still have so much
that I would like to do at the house! But thankfully, I've
successfully transitioned Ahgoo into daycare and have my pumping milk
schedule down. She seems to enjoy daycare and when I go to pick
her up each day, she's been pleasant and well fed. The only kink
in the process is our sleep schedule. She's still nursing about
twice a night. Then she will have a "wake" period where she wants
to play (coo, smile, etc.) for about an hour! Sometimes this will
be at 3am, sometimes it's at 5am, right before my alarm goes off at
6am! So I'm pretty exhausted through the day. Work shall be
interesting with the lack of sleep!
One of the things I wanted
to accomplish during my leave, which won't get done, was to paint the
"kids" room. Currently, Buzz is still sleeping in the crib in the
baby room. But in about a month, we will be transitioning him
into a twin bed and moving him into the other bedroom. Then, when
Ahgoo is 6 months old, we'll move her into the crib and she will share
the larger bedroom with Buzz. The baby room will then be
converted into the guest room. This will be the arrangement for a
few years until we likely move to a bigger house.
So what
color should we pick for a kids bedroom shared by a boy and a girl??
Since we used green in the baby room, we thought we'd pick a
different neutral color. Since pink doesn't really work for a boy
and our living room is already yellow, we go with blue. :-)
Simple right? Well, not quite. I never knew how many
shades of blues paint can have! We bought 8 paint samples (thank
goodness they are only $3 per can) and were thoroughly confused!
Which do we choose? All of the colors look so similar on paper
but completely different on the wall. They all have beautiful
names like Niagra Falls, Mineral Water, Geyser, Morning Breeze, and
Utah Sky. There's also the added complication of having to match
our existing curtains, which is yet another shade of blue-gray.
So after a week of getting different samples, we are getting
close to picking one color. Sadly, I will start work on Monday so
it may take us longer to finish the painting than I would like.
Hm...maybe this weekend during the kids' naptime, I can get some
painting squeezed in.

I've
never been a slave to fashion. I prefer very classic styles but I
do like to update my wardrobe with new pieces occasionally.
Recently, the Fedora hat has been seen everywhere! I have
been secretly thinking about trying one on. I have been wearing
the same sun hat for years so I felt that it was time to get a new one.
But I also had reservations about whether the Fedora will look
good on me. I fear that it was too masculine. Until I saw
this wardrobe recommendation by Rachel on her blog.
The hat she featured cost $50, which is too much for me to spend
on a hat I may or may not like. Then I discovered this gray straw
Fedora at a Japanese dollar store! It was, brace yourself,
$1.50!! I tried it on and liked the way it fit my head. To
make it just a bit more feminine, I added a brown ribbon and a flower.
The flower is actually the one I wore on my wedding day!
Now I am all caught up with the latest fashion trend. :-)
Oh, here's another outfit put together by Rachel that I love! I adore this woman's style, very classic and just beautiful.
