.................................................................................................................................................................................
Back in December, we had the opportunity to take a staycation with Baby
being in daycare and we had some time off from work. One of our day
trips was to Downtown LA!
Since I showed pictures of our glamourous evening out at the Music
Center in the last post, I thought I'd show you the rest of Downtown and
where we went.
For people who don't know LA, Downtown isn't usually a place people would
think of to visit. Usually, the more famous sister city, Hollywood,
gets all the tourists. But there are lots of interesting places to
visit in Downtown. Some notable places are Little Tokyo, Olvera
Street, California Plaza, Angels Flight, MOCA (Museum
of Contemporary Arts), the Central Library, Pershing Square, City
Hall, LA Live by the Staple Center, Disney Concert Hall and Dorothy Chandler
Pavillion, and Union Station. Though we didn't have time to
see everything, we did visit the places in bold.
We also discovered a restaurant we love! It's called Botega Louie.
I'd categorize them as French and American. The food is fabulous.
But the best part is that they make an authentic Souffle!

Botega Louie's pastries...how
many ways can you make an eclair?

Authentic Souffle at Botega
Louie, soooo yummy!!

A brief ride up the hill to
the California Plaza. The ride was worth every penny of the 25 cents!!

Love this road sign in front of City Hall.

We had a fabulous weekend which started with an evening of glam! My
mother had offered to babysit for us and we got to attend a be-lated holiday
party hosted by Mr. BAW's company at the Music Center in Downtown
LA. It's a glamorous venue situated between the Disney Concert Hall
and the Dorothy Chandler Pavillion, which hosted the Academy Awards from
1969 to 1987.
It's been a while since we've had the chance to attend a semi-formal event
so I was super excited! Downtown LA has some of the world's most beautiful
buildings so it's always a treat to be able to spend an evening there. The
event we were attending was on the 5th floor of the Music Center. We
got a gorgeous view of Dodger Stadium which coincidentally had a game so
it was all lit up. DInner was good, but my favorite part of dinner was
the Tiramisu.
Since the weather was perfect, it was in the high sixties with no wind,
we took a stroll through the courtyard and I took some pictures of the lights
and fountain. Enjoy the pics. Visit Downtown if you're in LA.

We've been having fantastic weather the past week but I've been so busy
at work that I've not had any time to enjoy it. My new job is super
busy, hopefully it's temporary. But between waking up in the middle
of the night for Baby and getting up at 6am each morning and being super
busy at work, I've been exhausted all the time. So blogging took a back
seat.
But I had a few minutes to sort through some pictures from our little
staycation in December and I wanted to share with you our adventure at Belmont Shore, a cute
little shopping district in Long Beach. This area is simply one street
long, not unlike Old Town Pasadena. They have some of the most interesting
shops around. We dined at a place called La Creperie Cafe
which was decorated like you were in a French cafe.
Other shops we loved include We Olive, Luna, and Powell's Sweet Shoppe which sells just about any candy
you can remember from your childhood!
If we have the time again, we will definitely visit Belmont Shore again!
If you're in town, we recommend a visit.

Happy New Year! Sorry for the lack of blogging but I have good
excuses. For the past two weeks, our whole family have succumb to
a terrible flu. Thankfully the flu hit me the hardest and Baby the
least. The flu just progress from fever to terrible sinus infection
to painful sore throat to loss of voice to uncontrollable cough. That's
where I'm at, hopefully it's the last symptom and I'm on my way to recovery.
The worst part of it all is that I also just started a new job! So
anyway, this is my excuse for the lack of blogging.
But just because I haven't had time to blog doesn't mean we didn't do
anything in December! In fact, Mr. BAW and I took advantage of the
daycare service and took two weeks off to enjoy a little staycation. With
Baby at daycare each day, we did something fun around town. On one
of our days off we took a nice long bike ride up the coast along the Strand
from Redondo Beach up to El Portal. We stopped off at Manhattan Beach
for some lunch and coffee. It was a glorious day for a bike ride. While
the rest of the country was suffering huge snow storms, we had high 60's
weather!! Enjoy the pictures from our ride.
