We have much to be thankful for.  Most of all, we're thankful for these two rug rats who make us laugh and cry each and everyday!  Today was picture day at pre-school and I can't wait to see the pictures!  I even made Buzz wear his very first tie!!  Haha, I admit it, I was one of those crazy moms hovering over them on picture day.  By the way, the picture below is from our Disneyland trip last month.  Buzz was so excited to wait in line to see Mickey but when we actually got to see him, Buzz became all shy!  Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!

One night I was cleaning out the dishwasher in the kitchen and I heard footsteps coming up to me.  Then I heard a little voice saying, "Mommy, what are you doing?"  I looked over and it was little Ahgoo!!  At almost 20 months old, that is the first time I heard her ask me a direct question!!  Usually she'll ask for something by saying, "I want (mawk, Shelby [her stuffed seahorse], cheese, nana [banana], etc)"  But this was a genuine question!  Am my just biased or is this advanced for a 20 month old?!

I want to show you a little glimpse of our new neighborhood and why I love the area so much.  I grew up in Los Angeles, and despite it's sometimes tainted image, I love LA.  The top three reasons I love LA are the weather, the ocean, and the diversity.  Well, our new neighborhood has two out of the three things I love about LA.  Maybe it's not very diverse in the immediate area, but we're still in the heart of LA so diverse food and culture are never too far away.  But we'll be closer to the ocean, only about 0.3 miles away and definitely walkable, even for me.  Ironically though, the number one reason I love our new neighborhood is because it is very un-LA!  It's like a little piece of a quiet oasis in the middle of the desert that is LA.

On a side note, I'm toying with skipping Christmas cards this year...maybe an e-Card?  Hopefully, our friends and family will understand and not drop us from their Christmas card list!

It's like a little piece of Europe right in our backyard.

Nice stroll.

Lovely fountain.

You can just see the Pacific Ocean between the trees.

Love this window.

The local park.

Last month I indicated that we have huge news to share.  We're moving!!!  In the span of one month, we've managed to buy a new home and sell our home of five years.  Looking back, we thought we were never going to move from this little house.  But I've always had a nagging feeling that we belong elsewhere, a sleepy neighborhood just a mile south of us.  So we devised a ten-year plan.  Since our current home is just a block away from one of the best elementary schools in LA, our kids can attend elementary school there for a few years.  We're also just a block away from the beautiful Rocketship Park that the kids just love.  But I didn't want to make the kids to have to change schools beyond the early elementary years.  So I would casually browse real estate listings in the neighborhood we love whenever I have some free time.  Well, if you window shop often enough, you're inevitably going to find something you'll love.

A place popped up on the listing one day in September.  I liked it and loved the location.  But it was just a simple curiosity at that point.  I figured with a place like that it would go within days of the list date.  A week went by, I checked the listing again, surprised that the place was still available.  Another week went by before we casually asked our long time realtor about the place.  Next thing we knew, we headed over to see it with her.  I fell in love with the place!  It had everything I wanted in a house.  It took Mr. BAW another visit to feel the same way about the house.  But I still couldn't believe that there were no other offers on the table.  Long story short, after much pondering and back and forth on going for it or backing off from it, we finally made the decision to make an offer!  So within a couple of weeks, we got our place in good enough shape to show and within days we got three offers for our home.

It is bittersweet for us to leave our little home, one we put in so much love and care over the last five years.  Both of our kids were born at this home.  Buzz may have faint memories of this place, Ahgoo will not remember a thing.  I will take many pictures of the home to remind them of this little house in the future.  But I'm super excited that the kids will grow up in our new house.  When I first saw the home, I immediately imagined Ahgoo coming down the stairs for her prom date!  Barring any unforeseen circumstances, this will be our final home, and Toby's as well.

Our little ranch home, we'll miss you.

It is slowly starting to feel like Fall.  Our weather is still pretty warm but since the Daylight Savings Time change, late afternoons driving home with the kids have taken on a whole different feel.  I think it's time to show you pictures from our apple picking adventure this year.  Due to the warm weather, crops were low this year.  So sadly, there were not many good apples left on the trees for us to pick.  But we still got to run around and drink some fresh apple cider.  We even brought Toby with us this year.   We went to Riley's Apple Farm where we discovered a cute little hiking trail outside of the farm.

These two again.

Beautiful Redwoods.

Toby and I, just like old times!

The rest of the gang.

Toby had a nice time sitting on benches along the hike.

Dry leaves can be so much fun!

In search of apples.

Mommy, I found some apples!

I was looking through some photos from a few months ago and discovered that I forgot to post these two.  My little engineer!  Unlike her older brother, Ahgoo prefers to do things herself.  She's a hands-on kind of girl. I can't wait to teach her physics and calculus, maybe next month. :-)

Ahgoo assembling a Boeing airplane.

Here she is fixing a Formula One race car, the apple of her Grandpa's eye!

Toby and I got a pass for this year's Halloween because I just got too tired.  Otherwise I had planned to be Aquaman and Toby was going to be a big sea creature, maybe a whale.  As usual, I made the kids' costumes out of felt, there isn't much I can't make out of felt!!!!  I think their costumes turned out pretty well, don't you?  Mr. BAW took care of his own costume, using his regular clothes and a cheesy mask.  This may be the last year that Ahgoo does't have an opinion on her costume.  The kids got tons of candy, most of which magically disappeared while they slept.  A fun time was had by all, and as Mr. BAW puts it, it's the only day of the year one can get away with wearing your underwear over your pants.

These two.

The superhero family.
