Happy 35th Birthday to my husband! This is a very special
birthday since this time next year, you'll be a new father. :-)
To celebrate his birthday we went to see Spamalot at the Ahmanson Theater
in Downtown LA. Before the show we had a wonderful dinner at Roy's, it was our
first time dining at Roy's and the experience was simply wonderful. We
highly recommend the butterfish if you get a chance to visit Roy's. It
is one of the best fish dishes we've ever tried. The chocolate souffle
was also quite amazing. Though it's not true French souffle, it's
more like a motlen lava cake, it's still pretty amazing when paired with
their vanilla bean ice cream.
The best part of the whole evening is that after dinner, Roy's
offered complimentary limousine service to the theaters. So we
got to ride in style to the show through Downtown. After the show,
the limo was waiting for us and two other couples to drive us all back
to Roy's where we parked our car. Spamalot was
a lot of fun to watch. Mr. BAW thoroughly enjoyed it since he is
a huge fan of Monte Python. Happy 35th Superman!

I must apologize for disappearing for almost a month! But
once again I was plagued with laptop angsts. My two-year old
HP laptop died. Thankfully I had enough warning signs that I was
able to back up all of my files before it completely died.
So I spent weeks soul searching and tooka good audit of
my computing habits. I determined that I spend the majority
of my home computing time blogging (reading or posting), researching
on the web, and checking email. I do spend a small amount of
time doing photo editing, but nothing major. So having a heavy
laptop with a dvd drive and intense processing power isn't really what
I need. In fact, with my last laptop, the hard drive always get
so hot that I can't leave it on my lap really. Especially these
days with my belly getting bigger, I worry about the heat and the electromagnetic
radiation effects on the baby. So what I'm really looking for
is a light weight, portable, and simple little computer for me to web
browse and store photos. Netbooks became my ideal. These are
small laptops with a 10" screen weighing in at about 2lbs max. They
lack an optical (CD/DVD drives) and typically have less processing capabilities.
But at 160GB of memory, 1GB RAM (2GB with upgrade) it meets all
of my needs, they can even fit into my purse! The best part is the
price, these little netbooks typically cost less than $400!
After deciding that I wanted a netbook I did some more
reading and finally decided on the Asus. These guys are based
in Taiwan and are one of the first people to develop the netbooks.
The model I went for is the top of the line with an impressive
10-hour battery life. Afterall, what's the point of being so portable
if you always have to be tied to a power cord?
I've had it for a week now and I absolutely love it!! I
plan on taking it on a trip with me in the near future.
