................................................................................................................................................................................
I will continue the trend from
my last post on luck. A few weeks ago, I was making some soup for
the kids and needed two eggs. So I took two eggs out of the
fridge. I cracked one egg and got two yolks! I've never
gotten a double-yolk egg before! So from a recipes perspective,
what should one do? I needed two yolks, but I also needed two egg
whites. The one egg would not have the right egg-white-to-egg-yolk
ratio. I stared at the egg in my bowl and pondered for a few
seconds. Should I just use the one egg or should I crack the
other egg and just have an extra yolk? My soup was pretty
forgiving about the amount of eggs I can use, it wasn't like baking.
So I decided to crack open the second egg. Guess what I
saw!! A second double-yolk!!! I ended up using all four
yolks in my soup since the kids could use more protein anyway. :-)
After
a little research, I discovered tha double-yolk eggs form if a chicken
ovulates too quickly and ends up being encased into one shell. Or
sometimes the yolks get fused together for unknown reasons. But
in all cases, double-yolk eggs do not hatch two chickens naturally,
there have been successful cases with human intervention.

Mr. BAW is one of those more
lucky people I know, and I'm not even counting the fact that he married
me! Ha! But he has, on more than a few occasions, found
money just walking on the street. Well, last weekend, he
literally became the luckiest person I know! Have you ever heard
of the " hidden cash" man? Apparently there's a millionaire
who likes to hid cash in interesting places up in the Bay Area and in
Los Angeles for people to find. He called it "a social
experiment." Well, last weekend, Mr. BAW went to Hermosa Beach to
play volleyball early in the morning. He said that after playing
one game, he decided to take some trash to a nearby trashcan.
When he got there, he noticed a superhero pez dispenser
half buried in the sand. He thought that Buzz would enjoy the toy
so he picked it up. Then he noticed that there was something in
the dispenser. When he opened it, there was a $50 bill inside it!
He thought that maybe someone had used a pez dispenser to store
money at the beach and just dropped it accidentally. So he went
back to the volleyball court and told his friends about it. Then
he noticed yet another pez dispenser nearby! So one of the guys
went online using his phone and found out that the hidden cash man was
targeting Hermosa Beach that morning! So the group started
looking all over the beach and together, they found about 13 of the 37
pez dispensers! Mr. BAW found the most, he even told a friend
where he spotted one! One of his friend found a pez that had $100
bill in it! In total, Mr. BAW found about $200. Needless to
say, volleyball was cut short that day. I told him that someone
is finally paying him to play beach volleyball! :-) The
kids enjoyed playing with the character pez dispensers.
|
Many of his volleyball friends gave Mr. BAW their empty pez dispensers knowing that Buzz and Ahgoo would enjoy them.
