Thanksgiving dinner was simply amazing.  Mr. BAW out did himself this year.  Take a look at the spread we had, the turkey was perfectly cooked, even the white meat was moist.  Then there was the stuffing, with apples and nuts, and the potatoes were laced with real bacon bits.  :-) He even made the gravy and cranberry sauce from scratch!!  There was also freshly baked cinamon bread and the oh-so-heavenly peanut butter pie.  Mr. BAW's cousin brought us some wonderful wine to go with the meal.  And our other guest, a friend of mine from work, brought ice cream and carved the turkey.  What did I do??  Besides eating, I made my special stuffed mushroom for an afternoon appetizer.  It's special because it only took me 5 minutes to make and 15 minutes in the microwave. :-)

In the mean time, Toby was anxiously waiting on the couch for the big meal.  But of course all he ended up with was an apple we didn't use for the stuffing.  But he was happy to have our guests pet him all day long.

This year we were smart and made our guests take home some turkey, stuffing, mash potato, and pie with them.  The next day, Mr. BAW took what was left of the turkey (bones and all) and made turkey stock out of it which he then turned into yummy turkey noodle soup.  Yes, I'm a lucky girl! :-)

Welcome little Tyler!  He's Kim's brand new baby boy.  Isn't he gorgeous??  Hm...maybe baby E's new boyfriend?  It's been a week, but Kim's other "boys" (Duke and Eddie the dogs) are still adjusting apparently, to not being the only babies in the family.  :-)

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.  We're hosting Thanksgiving for a cousin and a friend.  Mr. BAW is going all out with an 11-lb turkey, complete with stuffing, gravy, mash potatoes, string beans, cranberry sauce, and peanut butter pie.  Yes, he's making everything!  On Tuesday night, he already baked two peanut butter pies, one to take to work!  Oh, I'm making stuffed mushrooms for the appetizer.  Oh, and I'm cutting up the Pillsbury sugar cookie dough.  :-)  Toby's job is to snoop around the kitchen for any accidental drops of bread or apple bits.

Some couples have them, some don't.  What am I talking about?  Wedding videographers of course!  Ever since I had my first memory of a wedding (I believe it was one of my aunt's wedding) I've heard of the big debate, to hire videographers or not.  I've decided a long time ago that I do want the day captured, but have not decided on whether we should hire professional wedding videographers.  So I had a discussion with Mr. BAW tonight and we decided to ask a close friend of mine who happens to be a big time Hollywood writer to capture the day for us.  El Dwag has not only written for shows like Mad About You, Suddenly Susan, and Malcom in the Middle, he is also a movie critic, video editor, and video producer.  Take a look at this wonderful compilation of a family Christmas.  I love the throw back look combined with the kitchy sounds of today.  I don't want the stiff look of typical professional wedding videography, I want El Dwag to put in his personal touches.  He's also known me for years and being one of my closest friends, this will be a very special gift to us.

We went to Ikea a few days ago because I saw these adorable new stuffed toys online and had to get them for Toby.  These are all $5 from Ikea!!  I love them because they all have cloth noses and eyes, so Toby won't end up swallowing plastic parts.  If I went to a pet store for these guys, they would've been at least $20 each!

We ended up getting him a pink hippo, stuffed soccor ball, and a spikey stuffed baseball.  When presented with the hippo, his eyes lit up and and he runs around the house with the hippo in his mouth while shaking his head.  It's the most dorky yet adorable thing Ive ever seen.  All that was worth the drive to Ikea.

These toys are all from the children's section of Ikea.  A few years ago Ikea added a dog line of products.  But most of the products are for small dogs.  Apparently, they also allow dogs in their store.  But I've only seen tiny dogs in the store...maybe they don't allow big dogs, since they don't carry big dog products...

I also saw these cute vases and candle holders at Ikea.  The vases are only $2 each!! The large candle holders are $12 each, also extremely cheap.  I've been thinking about our reception center pieces and these candle holders may work.  All of these options are extremely affordable, and who wouldn't want to take these candle holders home as gifts from us??  But I'll hold off buying anything until I talk to a florist...

The weather's been rather gloomy and chilly in LA the past week.  Thankfully, it's helped with the fire situation tremendously.  But combine this with the recent time change and I'm already getting the winter blues.  I am sadly reminded of the time we took a trip down the California coast back in July, after TNK's wedding in San Francisco.

I realize that I forgot to show you pictures from that beautiful trip to Monterey, Carmel, and San Luis Obispo.  California has some of the world's most beautiful coastlines.  I hope my pictures will give you a glimps of the natural beauty.

Though it was the most perfect proposal, I complained in jest that I had a dress all planned out for the proposal I thought I was going to get in Monterey.  So Mr. BAW proposed again, this time with me in my special dress in Monterey. :-)

Enjoy the pictures.

I can't believe it's November already.  Time flies when you've got a lot to do.  Due to the time change, it gets dark at around 4:30pm now.  The time change is always my signal that winter has arrived.   This means start thinking about Turkeys, sweaters, Christmas cards and presents.

But before we completely leave October, let me show you how we spent our Halloween this year.  A couple of good friends of ours' happen to live a few blocks from us.  They LOVE Halloween and each year decorate their place to be the hit of their neighborhood.  This year is no different, they turned their side yard into a crazy haunted house complete with coffins and dead aliens.  Add the effects of a fog machine, strobe lights, and dramatic music and you've got a great haunted house.

Where we in costumes?  Of course, we can't go to a haunted house without dressing up!  Being so busy these days, I wanted to make things simple.  So I recycled our costume from a few years ago and went as Daphane and Toby went as Scooby Doo.  Mr. BAW then had to be Fred.

Toby was a huge hit with the trick or treat kids of course.  Besides hating his spots, he endured all the petting from everyone.  But to his dismay, Toby didn't get to eat any candy that night.

Happy November!

This is the grand master of the show.  He was Death with eyes that glow.  And for their hungry friends, they served yummy chili and tons of drinks.  Being obssessed with Halloween, he vowed to make next year even grander than this.

It was definitely super hero night, we saw so many little boys dressed up as Spiderman, Superman, and Buzz Lightyear.  But our favorite of the evening was this cute little Batman and his web of candy!

All in all, everyone had a fun and safe Halloween.
