Happy Chinese New Year!! It is the year of the dragon
and to the Chinese, a very special year indeed. The dragon is a
very auspicious mythical creature to the Chinese. Because of
this, most Chinese want their children to be born in the year of the
dragon. We happen to be lucky enough to have our daughter be born
in the year of the dragon, specifically, she will be a water dragon.
By
all accounts, she's already quite a feisty little water dragon.
I'm now starting week 31 of my pregnancy and Baby Girl is super
active. She loves to kick, not just once, but continuously kick
me as if she's doing kick boxing! My back is aching more and more
each day and I experience hip pain not just in the morning but also
throughout the day. I am also having to inject myself with
insulin each night to control my morning glucose level. Then,
yesterday, I am starting to feel some swelling in my hands, my rings
are feeling tighter now. I didn't experience swelling until
around 34 weeks with my last pregnancy. I can't wait to not be
pregnant anymore!! I also can't wait to be able to meet our
little dragon baby! Happy Chinese New Year. :-)

Last
weekend we attended a friend's daughter's 1st birthday party and we had
a blast! My friend K. is so creative, she always comes up with
the cutest ideas. So her for her daughter's birthday party, she
of course had tons of adorable ideas. I just have to share some
of the pictures from the party with you.
The one thing she had
at her daughter's party was the most unique idea I've ever seen.
She had hired a silhouette cutter to make silhouettes of all the
kids attending the party!! The cutter is this amazingly talented
woman named Sylvia (Sylhouettes by Sylvia)
who takes two pieces of paper and a pair of small scissors and cuts out
the profiles of the kids. At first, I thought she would shine a
light on the faces of the kids onto a piece of paper and trace out the
silhouette, or maybe take a digital picture then use the computer to
convert the image into a silhouette before cutting. Instead, she
simply ask the parent to keep the child's head still (usually using a
toy to distract the child) and she instantly cuts out the silhouette
just by looking at the child's profile!! She does it in under 30
seconds!! She's got to be quick because the average age of those
kids at the party was about 2!! If I hadn't witness it myself
when she did our little boy's silhouette, I wouldn't have believe it!
The reason she cuts two sheets of paper at once is because one
silhouette is for the guest and the other is for my friend K. to keep
as a momento of all her daughter's guests. What a great idea!!!
| Such adorable signs for the cupcakes! |

|
| For the little guests, she made these adorable snack jars. Our little guy gobbled up the cheerios instantly. | |
| This was our little guy's favorite party activity, a mini-coaster!! | |
| Other activities at the party included making felt sticker cards. | |
| The silhouette cutter station at the party. | |
| Our little boy's silhouette! I LOVE it, I'll be framing the picture to hang in his room. | |

Last
month, our little guy got to go to Disneyland for the very first time!!
Instead of having a birthday party, we decided to take him to
Disneyland to meet his idol Buzz Lightyear. Since it was only a
week after Christmas, Disneyland was still all decked out in magical
lights. The place really shines after sunset!! The only bad
thing about going to Disneyland that week is that the place was
absolutely packed. They had to close the park to new visitors in
the middle of the day because it had reached capacity!! But since
we bought annual passes, we had very simple goals for this visit.
The only things we wanted to do this time was to let the boy meet
Buzz Lightyear, take him to Toon Town, and take him to see the Cars
display. Being in my third trimester, I just wanted to take
things easy. I made sure we had time for food and that I got
plenty of opportunity to take sitting breaks. I didn't think that
I would be able to go onto any rides but did end up going on one ride,
the new Toy Story 4-D ride. Even Little Boy got to go on that
ride. Next time we go, it'll likely be after baby girl's arrival
and we'll definitely go when there will be much less people so that
Little Boy can actually enjoy Toon Town (his favorite thing to do at
Disneyland) without having to run into people every two steps.
Enjoy our pics below!

Such a magical castle!

|
Small World all lit up. We'll definitely take Little Boy on the ride next time.
Main Street, so festive and beautiful.
Toon Town!! Our favorite!
Little Boy had a blast, he LOVED this fire engine.
Uh oh, Grandpa giving Little Boy driving lessons and crashed into Goofy's mailbox!
Daddy's turn to give driving lessons.
Little Boy driving the Grandparents around Toon Town.
Little Boy was so star-struck that he just stared at the giant Buzz!!
He loved Jessie, she was so flirting with him, she even gave him a kiss!
Cars!! Too bad they don't allow anyone to actually touch the cars.

Happy
New Year to everyone!! Sorry it's been such a long time since my
last post. But life has been so busy that I have not had any time
to even organize the hundreds of holiday and birthday pictures yet.
So those posts will be coming soon. I really don't
want to start the year off showing you this unsavory looking picture
but this is so strange that I have to share. Today, I was at a
parking lot of a federal building and was getting my car routinely
searched. The guard opened my hood as part of the search process
and told me to take a look at my engine. Turns out that there are
a bunch of empty snail shells on my battery!! Disturbing...but
the guy said to me that it's not uncommon when the weather drops that
critters will seek warmth. However, when I got home and told Mr.
BAW about the snail shells, he told me that the same thing happened to
his car! The auto mechanic who discovered it in his car told him
that it's likely an animal (perhaps roden) that have been eating the
snails under the hood of his car. After talking to a few
co-workers and searching the web,
I think the mechanic is correct. We may have a rat problem on our
hands! Mr. BAW had been parking his car outside for a few months
during our bathroom remodel so it's not a surprise that an animal could
get into his car. But my car has always been parked in our
garage. So the most disturbing part of it all is that we may have
a rat problem in our garage, eventhough we've never seen a rat or even
droppings. I think this "snail feast" happened during the last
week of December when I didn't drive my car for about a week.
Strangely, about 12 years ago, I had a cat give birth on the hood
of my car. At least it's not like my co-worker, he found a rat in
his glove compartment!! |
