Amy's Brain is 47% Female, 53% Male
Amy's brain is a healthy mix of male and female
You are both sensitive and savvy.
Rational and reasonable, you tend to keep level headed.
But you also tend to wear your heart on your sleeve.

In this month's Martha Stewart's Living, she suggested new ways to use tacs in home decorating.  I love how the use of simple tacs can accent a child's dresser, a hall mirror, and a candle holder.  She suggested first drawing out a design on paper and then taping the paper onto the object you're decorating.  Hammer in the tacs following your design and voila, instant accent.

We ran into a puppy sale in Santa Barbara and had to stop to play with the puppies! Some one had nine Labrador-mixes to sell and they attracted a little crowd by the beach.  Since we already have a very big puppy of our own in LA, there was no risk of us impulsively bringing one of the puppies home. :-)  But we just HAD to play with them!

<>Mr. BAW fell in love with one of the little pups. Each puppy had a distinct personality.  There was a hyper one, a sleepy one, a dorky one, and an alpha pup.  They all rolled around on top of one another, doing typical cute doggie business.

I personally was very fond of a sleepy little boy that reminded me so much of Toby when he was just a big little pup.  But most of the people were drawn to the spunky pups and I felt sorry for them already.  They will soon find themselves living with a little terror that may turn into a big terror in about 6 months.

But all the pups were adorable and after playing with them for about half an hour, we had to tear ourselves away.  But I'm sure every puppy will have found an owner since they were soooo cute!

Happy Chinese New Year!  It's the year of the pig. :-)

Postcards from Santa Barbara...these are a few of the pictures I took in Santa Barbara last weekend.  I think some of them would make nice postcards.  As you can see, the sky was blue and the weather was perfect.  We stayed at the Hotel Santa Barbara, right in the middle of downtown.  Our 4th floor hotel window gave us a gorgeous view of the Santa Ynez Mountains.

This picture is my version of an Escher picture.  If you click on the image, you can view a larger version of the picture.  If you look closely, you'll see the little bird sitting on top of the street light.

I hope you've enjoyed these pictures, more to come from Santa Barbara!

Happy Valentine's Day!!

..........................................................................................................................................................

We decided to take a quick weekend trip up to Santa Barbara for a pre-Valentine's Day celebration.  Santa Barbara is the perfect road trip for a little R&R.  It's a charming little town just a 2-hour drive North of LA.  It boasts wonderful shopping, restaurants, and beaches.  We had a wonderful time.  I took so many pictures that I will have to break up the blogs.  It was forcasted to be a weekend of rain.  But just our luck, the rain came overnight and our two days were gloriously beautiful.  We got to keep to our itinerary of shopping, hiking at the Botanical Gardens, strolling along the beach, and visiting the Santa Barbara Zoo.  We also visited some wonderful restaurants including Stella Mare's, perhaps the most romantic restaurant I have ever dined at.

Visit my blog for more entries of our weekend in SB.  Happy Tuesday!

Where is Toby??  I came downstairs one night after putting away some laundry to find Toby's side of the couch empty.  Turns out that he had snuck over to my side of the couch!

I guess sometimes you have to find out for yourself whether the other side of the couch is softer...

Starting with a promise...Letters from Iwo Jima is perhaps the best war movie I have ever seen.  No matter how many war movies are made, no matter how many times the same stories are told, it still stirs the deepest of human emotions.  I went to see this movie with extremely high expectations and Clint Eastwood delivered, and much more.  The acting was first rate, not a single weak character.  The music was moving.  But go to it with caution, there are many extremely violent scenes.  Strangely, the most violent scenes for me were not the ones with blood and gore.  The scenes I find most difficult to take were mostly suggestive.

Though the movie was told from the Japanese soldiers' perspectives, you can essentially translate it into any nationality.  Human emotions transcends nationality.  I will probably buy the movie but it will be a long time before I can watch it again.  This is definitely my pick for this year's Oscar's for Best Picture.  I also hope that Clint Eastwood will win Best Director.
