.................................................................................................................................................................................
Happy 1st birthday to our little boy!! I can't believe it's been a
whole year since you've come into our lives. We can't imagine life without
you and your adorable antics!
I love our daily "conversations" about your day at school. I love
that you hate getting your diaper changed. I love that you shove 4
cheerios into your mouth all at once. I love that you are so proud
of yourself when you pull both socks off your feet. I love that you
have to touch your lashes when you drink your milk. I love that you
stretch like a big boy when you wake up in the morning. I love that
you screech like a fire alarm when you want more cheerios. I love that
you love my cooking for now. I love how much you absolutely HATE getting
your nails cut. I love that you like to say "Duh!" I love that
you'll shake your head and wave your hands when you've had enough to eat.
I love that you HAVE to clap if you hear someone say "yay!" I
love that you like to sleep with your butt sticking up in the air. I
love that you suck on the same two fingers I did when I was a baby. I
love that you have two cowlicks. But the thing we love the most about
you is that you'll always be our precious Baby! Happy birthday to our
Love!

Santa was good to Mommy and
Baby! Baby got a ride-on car I found on Amazon. He loves this car.
He'll either ride it and have us push him around the house or he'll
use it as a walker and walks around the house with it. This is one of
the best bargains I've found on Amazon. For $16 including shipping,
the car has storage space under the seat, real engine sounds when you turn
a key, honks, makes music, and even has a cell phone. The only
complain I have is that they put the buttons for siren sounds right where
Baby's thighs constantly activates it by accident. Other than that,
it's the perfect toy for the price.
For Mommy, I got this amazing light
weight stroller that is truly light-weight! It only weighs 8lbs,
less than some newborn babies! The best part is that this one also has
a storage basket and cup holder. Plus, Baby is situated higher above
ground so that he can see more. Also the sunshade pivots to a wider
range so that it can block out the sun at more angles. I absolutely
love this stroller, it will definitely grow with Baby!
Hope Santa was good to you also! :-)

Finally, after months of waiting, the Palos Verdes
Estates The Yellow Vase
is open!! I'm a huge fan of this charming little brunch place.
We've been frequent patrons of The Yellow Vase in Redondo Beach but
that location is much smaller. The new location in PVE is gorgeous
and charming with large indoor and outdoor dining areas. It is nestled
in the middle of Malaga Cove, downtown PVE. The whole place feels like
you're in the French Riviera. We took our cousin visiting from San
Diego to brunch and went for a little stroll around Malaga Cove to catch
a glimps of the ocean. If you are ever in the neighborhood, you must
visit the Yellow Vase and definitely try the tomato basil soup!

Last year I had much to be thankful
for at Christmas. But this year is even better. After almost
a year, we're finally comfortable being a family of 4. Slowly, we're
back to our hosting selves and we threw a little dinner party for a couple
of friends and family. Toby was happy taking a long nap under the
table while Baby was happy eating his dinner and snacking on cheerios. Here's
to being comfortable in our new lives!

Did you know that holly plants have thorns on the tips of its leaves?? I
found out the hard way while decorating my candle with the holly plants we
bought from our neighbor's daughter. She was selling them to raise
money for her elementary school. This is the school that Baby will eventually
attend. So we thought we'd start our support early and be neighborly
at the same time. We also bought these pine cones too.
But I never knew that holly plants are so thorny! Actually, according
to Wikipedia, they are called spines. I pricked myself several times
handling the plants. It hurts even more than when I had to perform
glucose testing during my pregnancy! According to history, people would
wear the plants on their heads as crowns...ouch! But looking at this
picture, I must say that they are beautiful.
Only two more shopping weekends before Christmas! I am almost done
with all of my shopping but still need to send out our Christmas cards. We've
already gotten a few cards from our friends. Darn early birds!

We took a little trip down to the South Coast Plaza last weekend. The
reason I wanted to go to this mall is to check out their Christmas decorations.
This is a very high-end mall with stores like Cartier, Carolina Herrera,
and Escada. I love to get into the Christmas spirit by checking out
the mall decorations.
South Coast Plaza did not disappoint in the Christmas decorations. They
had a giant tree with a whole Alps village wrapped around the base and
a real train for kids circling the third story part of the tree. Too
bad Baby is too young to ride the train.
Besides the beautiful decorations, I noticed that there were these balloon
pets being dragged around by kids all throughout the mall!! They
have feet and the feet keeps them from floating up but they are able to
just "bounce" along on the ground and the kids drag them around with the
balloon ties like a leash. Turns out these are called Walking Pet Balloons. We saw a lot of dog balloons at
the mall, but I did see one chicken. Why would a kid want a pet chicken...let
alone a balloon chicken?? Odd.
The other crazy thing I noticed at this mall is the number of exotic
strollers we saw! There were tons of strollers everywhere we turn.
But these strollers were not just your regular Graco, BOB, or even
Maclaren strollers. It was only after coming home and looking them
up on the internet did I learn what a few of these strollers were. We
saw quite a few of these Phil
and Ted Stroller Systems and these Mutsy Strollers.
The Mutsy runs about $600. Crazy.

Baby is almost one year old!
I can't believe that I survived a full year of parenthood. I
must say that being a mom is by far my toughest role. I have a whole
new respect for mothers! What is so hard about being a mother you
ask? Well, besides the constant worrying about the health of your
baby, there's the everyday grind. Since this is my first child, I sometimes
wonder if my baby is particularly needy or am I doing something wrong, like
spoiling him too much. For the past 5 months, Baby has developed pretty
bad stranger anxiety and strong mommy attachment. At home, he refuses
to be in his play pen by himself, refuses to sit in his high chair, and refuses
to go back to sleep in his crib if he wakes up in the middle of the night.
He'll scream and screech and cry uncontrollably until I hold him. As
much as I love him, it gets to be pretty stressful at times to have such
a needy baby. But when I mentioned Baby's neediness to his school teachers,
they tell me that they've seen worse. That made me feel better. Then
I read Karen Cheng's blog about her toddler and her story made
me laugh and cry and realize that Baby is not unique and that he is in fact
right on the developmental track! Happy Friday!

Our Christmas tree is up! We've
had a very busy November. We took a trip to Mr. BAW's home to visit
Baby's Grandpa and Grandma for Thanksgiving. It was Baby's very
time on a plane trip and his very first time leaving California! How
did Baby do on the 4-hour flight? He did extremely well for a couple
of reasons. First, since it was Thanksgiving, there were many other
babies on both legs of our flights. Each flight, Baby was not the
loudest kid on board. Second, I insisted on taking early, non-stop
flights each time. Baby is definitely a morning guy so flying in the
morning works out very well. Plus, the take off times coincided well
with his meal time so I was able to give him a bottle to help pop his ears
duringt take off. Third, with all the excitement of the airport and
being in an airplane, he was extremely tired by the time the plane is in
the air. So he ended up sleeping for half the flight each time. Plus,
the airports have a special security area for families so the whole process
was pretty quick and smooth. All they had to do extra was check the
chemical composition of the baby formula. The last reason our trip
went well was because we chose to travel on off-peak days. We left
the weekend before Thanksgiving and came home on Black Friday. The
airport was actually pretty empty on Black Friday!
