I grew up in LA but it wasn't until last week that I had my very first visit to Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles!!  It is just one of those things that was not on my priority list.  In fact, Mr. BAW and I only went because my co-workers orgaized a luncheon!  But, WOW, why didn't we go sooner!!!  The fried chicken was amazing!  The batter was light and crispy, the collard greens were tender, and the sweet potato pie was simply divine!  Even Obama had to agree.  However, I'm not sure when we can go again because the Roscoe's closest to our work is way too popular!  My co-workers were super lucky to have grabbed a table for us.  We will probably try going to the one in Pasadena in the future.  But it's probably good that we can't enjoy Roscoe's too often...it's probably not the most healthy food to eat regularly!

Here is the second installment of Mr. BAW's epic trip to Machu Picchu.  This set of picutures were taken at Cusco.  The tour used Cusco as an acclimation base, staying a few days prior to the hike and a few days after the hike to Machu Picchu.  I love this set of pictures because I always enjoy seeing the cultures of different places.  Enjoy the pics.

Can you see the faint message on the mountainside?

Have you ever heard of the Cabazon Dinosaurs??!!  We see them all the time when we drive to Arizona or to the Cabazon Outlet Stores on Interstate 10.  Well, over Memorial Day weekend, we finally stopped by to check them out!  I was a little dubious about the whole thing thinking that the kids would either be afraid of them or be completely bored by it all.  Well I was completely wrong!  The kids LOVED the dinosaurs and even I had a lot of fun seeing these giant creatures against the desert backdrop.  You can almost imagine these giant creatures roaming the Earth millions of years ago.  We had so much fun that we'll probably stop there any time we head to Arizona to visit my In-Laws.  I also had some reservations about Ahgoo maybe having nightmares after seeing the dinosaurs but she never did.  Turns out that there is a gift shop inside the Brontosaurus and after we went in, Ahgoo kept saying that "It ate us all up!"  Enjoy our silly pictures!

I know it seems like I always start a new blog month in disbelieve that it is a new month already.  But that's just exactly how I feel each month!  Our calendars always seem to fill up so quickly with weekend activities that each week just pushes on.  Last month we had so much packed into our Memorial weekend that I have to slowly show you the pictures.  Eventhough we didn't take any long trips, we enjoyed a staycation and did things around town.  As much as I know LA, we still managed to discover new places to visit.  We took a little trip to Cal State University, Long Beach (CSULB) to see their beautiful Japanese garden.  I can't believe that I've never been there before!  Years ago, my cousin got married there but I missed his wedding and was only able to attend his reception at another location.  I wanted to also take the kids around other parts of campus but turns out it was graduation day at CSULB the day of our visit so the campus shuttles were not operating.  But we definitely plan to return with my In-Laws and we'll do the campus tour next time.  For now, I'll leave you with some pictures from that day.  If you get a chance, definitely go see the garden, it's free and the koi fish are huge!!  Some of them are literally the size of a small dog.  It's only 50 cents to buy some fish food to feed them.
