Amy's Brain is 47% Female, 53% Male
Amy's brain is a healthy mix of male and female
You are both sensitive and savvy.
Rational and reasonable, you tend to keep level headed.
But you also tend to wear your heart on your sleeve.

The horrible fires all over Southern California have turned our skies red.  Even along the coast, we're seeing ashes falling.  The air is muggy and thick and it feels like an oven all day long.  Though we're not in the fire danger areas, we're feeling the impact of it all very visibly.

I also suffer from terrible allergies which have acted up due to all the ashes in the air.  I have developed a pretty intense and sustained tension headache for the past two days.  But luckily for me, a couple of Advil will take care of things.  I can't even begin to imagine the people who have lost their homes and all of their precious possessions.

Also tons of animals have been displaced from their homes.  But there's also been many expamples of generosity, including VCA (Toby's vet) offering free boarding services for those animals forced out of their homes.

Something borrowed...congratulations to my Matron of Honor TNK for her recent wedding in June.  I was her Maid of Honor and she will help me with my wedding.  Here she is with her then-fiancee posing for her engagement photos in romantic San Francisco.  This is just one of many gorgeous shots around this beautiful city.  I also love the black and white photos, it really shows off the charm of this city by the bay.

So what am I borrowing from TNK?  For my "something borrowed" I will be wearing TNK's veil for my wedding.  The bridal veil is one of the most marked-up wedding accessories and one can easily make it using this set of instructions.  So initially I was thinking of making my own veil.  But since attending her beautiful wedding back in June, I wanted to share in some of her happiness, and what better way than to borrow her veil?!  She even took a trip down to LA to deliver her veil for me in time for me to try it on with some wedding gowns.  Now that's a wonderful Matron of Honor!  I just hope that my wedding will as organized as her's was.

I think that my "something new" will likely be shoes.  What about something blue?  Maybe a blue ribbon in my bouquet...

"Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe."

After much web browsing for ideas and months of design changes, I have finally settled on our wedding website design.  I wanted something very clean and modern but also classy.  I also wanted to stick to the cherry blossoms theme but didn't want anything too feminine and girly.  So I browsed tons of couples wedding sites both professional and self-made.  I got plenty of ideas for the various categories of links to include in the site, but didn't find any designs I like.

Just as I was getting discouraged, I found this beautiful design.  I can't even remember where I found it but I love the colors and the simple representation of cherry blossom trees.  So I decided to build a wedding site based on this image.  Here it is...it is just a shell for now.  I am still working on getting some pictures up and creating the links.  For now, I'm just happy to settle on a design and the rest is just getting the information together.  I hope everyone likes our wedding site,  Mr. BAW is out of town and he's not seen it yet.  Hopefully, he'll like it too.  Stay tuned for more information on our wedding site.

At the age of 5, Toby finally has bonded with a male figure.  Though I know he loves mommy, I noticed that Toby has really become quite attached to his daddy.  We took Toby down to Huntington Dog Beach to visit his buddies Duke and Eddie (pictured on the left) back in July and he voluntarily walked into the water following Mr. BAW!  Compare this to a year ago when I took him down to the dog beach by myself when he just hated the whole water thing.  I'm not saying that Toby loves water now, I'm saying that he doesn't even mind the water when he's with Mr. BAW.  It warms my heart to see my two favorite boys bonding. :-)

We went to Las Vegas for a weekend trip back in September.  We went to see the Cirque Du Soleil show Ka at the MGM Grand Hotel.  Ka was simply spectacular.  I can't express how amazing the show is in words.  They of course do not allow photography inside the theater.  But pictures can not do the show any justice.  Now I want to see the other Cirque Du Soleil "O" at the Bellagio.  Neither Mr. BAW and I are gamblers so besides the show, we had to do the buffets.  We decided to eat dinner at the Bellagio and brunch at The Paris Hotel.

We also did a lot of hotel hopping, and my favorite Vegas hotel is the Bellagio.  I loved the water show outside of the hotel.  The Bellagio also has a huge display hall that they decorate according to season.  The current theme was Fall.  It was absolutely breathtaking.  I took some pictures but they don't really do it justice.  But I hope you'll enjoy the pictures nonetheless.

The beautiful ceiling of the Bellagio Hotel.  The glass jelly fish are so colorful and beautiful I had to take a picture of it.  Then there's the beautiful display hall all decked out with fall colors.

A Tree God, he was huge and so lively!!
Apples, everywhere!
Bellagio is also home to the world's largest chocolate fountain...look at the milky sweetness drizzle down!

Sorry for the lack of blogging!  But I have some pretty good excuses.  Since I can't post any pics yet (you'll see why)  I'll post my random thoughts of the day.

1) My Mac laptop of 4 years finally died.  Back in June I had to replace the hardrive, essentially performing "brain surgery" on my computer.  I lost 5 years of emails and all of my music files.  But I got over it, and continued on using the Mac.  Then a few weeks ago, it started to hang up when ever I run anything for two seconds.  After days of frustration, a friend diagnosed it for me.  Turns out that both fans had stopped working and the processor would overheat if I ran any applications.  I once again rolled up my sleeves and took the thing apart.  Unfortunately, the power supply to the fans are behind the circuit panel which is permanently mounted to the frame.  So there you have it...$2000 computer rendered unusable because the little fans don't work anymore.  Sigh #1...

2) Long story short, I bought a new computer.  Going with a PC this time, much cheaper and more powerful.  However, when I got it, I discovered that the PC had a 1394 4-pin jack while my external hardrive (with ALL of my files, pics, etc) had a 1394 6-pin cable.  I still have to purchase a converter.  Sigh #2...

3) Due to the tough housing market, I have taken my condo off the market for now and will be renting it out for a year.  I have been trying to sell my condo since June.  But buyers have been extremely reluctant to make offers so I will rent it out a year to see what the market will be like then.  So I had to move all of my stuff into storage for now.  Moving is just not fun.  I HATE moving.  I still have to clean out some closets.  Sigh #3...  Oh, did I also mentioned that I have recently moved offices at work too?  Sigh #4...

In other news...we are starting to interview wedding photographers.  I want to talk to at least three different groups just to get a feel of what we like.

Also congratulations to our friends S&S in welcoming their baby girl Emma and A&N in welcoming their baby boy Shiva!  So many babies, so little time!

Speaking of cute kids,  this is my favorite commercial of late!!  Pete Wiggins is such an adorable kid in this Kaiser Permanente commercial titled "When I was younger."
