A TWEEN WE HAVE!

Twelve years ago we became parents to this boy whom we love more than life itself. He's challenged us and he's made us proud. He's a loving person to his sister (...sometimes!) and he tells me that he will have his own dog when he grows up. In 2021, he became a middle schooler and earned his black belt in Taekwondo. Happy Birthday to our first born, we can't wait to see what else he's going to do in his twelve year of life.

COMIC CON!!

Back in early December, Mr. BAW's best friend came to town and took everyone to Comic Con at the LA Convention Center. With social distancing, things were kept pretty safe. The two men went for two days while the kids and I went on the last day. The day we all went, Mr. BAW decided to go all geeked out and dressed up as his favorite TV character, "Chuck" from the show Chuck because Zachary Levi was a guest at Comic Con. Sadly, Mr. BAW did not get to meet him because the line was too crazy. But he did get one person complimenting him on his costume...which made it all worthwhile! The highlight of the day was when the kids got to meet Benedict Wong who played "Wong" in Doctor Strange. Funny that there were two "Benedict"s in that movie...I guess it's a popular British name. Anyway, Benedict Wong was super nice and when he saw the kids in line to get see him, he walked out from behind his plexiglass to give the kids elbow bumps and signed their badges! He's now the kids' favorite Marvel superhero. Both kids had tons of fun at the event and both left with some nice purchases. Buzz got a set of mini-lego Marvel figures (he LOVES mini-lego figures) and Ahgoo got some adorable cat prints signed by the artist. Thanks to funcle (fun uncle) Karl from Michigan, everyone had a great time at Comic Con!

MERRY CHRISTMAS 2021

We has a huge rainstorm this morning, now the skies are clear and beautiful, just in time for seeing Santa this evening down our street. We have a fierce cookie decorating contest and knock-knock joke contest this Christmas eve! This is a test cookie that Ahgoo tried out this morning with Grandma. Stay warm and have a wonderul Christmas!

GIFTS AND USEFUL THINGS

If you browse the web and read blogs, you know it's Christmas season! Everyone has gift list recommendations because we all need new gift ideas. Well, I decided to share a few of my favorite things this year as well. On my list, I have things that I currently use (collapsible laundry basket, it's awesome!!), things I am in love with (can one love a piece of furniture? Yes, yes one can!) and things I find incredibly clever (I could've used you in grad school, wrist stickie!!). A few other items are just beautiful things, like that toilet brush and those gorgeous wooden plates and serving pieces. Then there are a few items that I would love to get, like that adorable sloth plant hanger (no words!!!) and those lovely shoes. Sorry I didn't provide sources for all these things. But they should be searchable on the internet. The shoes and dog water bottle have websites shown and the collapsible laundry basket is from Bed Bath and Beyond. Anyway, just wanted to share a few fun things as we head into the holidays!

LIGHTS AND MORE LIGHTS!

I still remember thinking "this is going to be a long year..." back in January. With a blink of the eye, we're at the end of 2021, how did it fly by so fast??! I haven't even posted pictures of Buzz's graduation from elementary school, which seems like a million years ago. He's already so used to middle school that it feels like he's been there forever. This year, I don't have trouble getting into the Christmas mood. The weather has been very gloomy and cold so I'm already in the cozy season mode. My volunteer tomato season is finally over, I've only got a few tiny tomatoes left for seeds. I'm ready to clear out the garden space for the winter. We've got our Christmas tree up and I've hung lights on our balcony. I've been collecting presents and stocking stuffers. In another week, I'll be ready to mail out Christmas cards. How about you? Are you getting into the spirits?

In November, we took a week-long trip to Arizona to spend Thanksgiving with my In Laws. Thanks to the initiatives of my SIL, we went to see Zoolights at the Phoenix Zoo. It was simply magical. There were so many impressive displays of lights and animal forms that I didn't know where to look! They even had a light show over the lake with music accompaniment. It definitely brought on some Christmas cheer. We even saw a few real sleeping animals, including a beaustiful leopard and some bald eagles. The only thing I regret was not wearing warmer clothes...it was a chilly night in Phoenix! Enjoy the pictures and get into the holiday mood!
