APPLES AND LA FALL

Even though we've taken the kids apple picking in the past, the kids were pretty young and Ahgoo doesn't remember going. So this year, she specifically asked to go apple picking. Then, I decided to kill two birds with one stone and prepare to take Christmas card pictures at the apple farm! Brilliant, I thought to myself. So I brought outfit props for the kids to wear that would make it more Christmassy, like wool scarf and knit hats. I even brought Kepler a festive bandana. Well, unfortunately, LA fall weather is a bit more like summer. The forecast for the mountains were supposed to be in the low 60's. But as we got close to apple picking day, it jumped up to the mid 70's! Haha, the kids were still troopers and still wore their props for my pictures...after I yelled at them a bit. I was happy with the pictures we got from apple picking and even got my Christmas cards made already!! And Ahgoo had fun apple picking this year and she'll surely remember it this time. We ended up with about 10 pounds of apples which were turned into a delicious apple crisp dessert (I forgot to take a picture of it) by Mr. BAW, just in time to serve at a little friends gathering the next weekend. Enjoy our pictures from that day!

DIPPER AND MABEL

After missing out on Trick or Treating on a Saturday night to COVID, we settled for a Sunday Halloween. The kids and their friends were all geared up for a fierce night of candy hunting! This year, the kids both decided at the same time that they were going to be the wonder twins from Gravity Falls. It's one of the kids' favorite shows. I fully supported this decision since 1) the costumes are simple, almost like they're wearing regular clothes and 2) being real siblings, they just fit the characters (Ahgoo even has braces!) Buzz just bought the hat himself since he's wanted that hat for a long time. Other than that, he found all of the outfits in his own closet. For Mabel, we found a pair of purple sweatpants from the Salvation Army store which I converted into a skirt for her. I also used felt to add the star and rainbow motif onto a red sweater she already has.

Mr. BAW and I weren't going to dress up at all, but then last minute decided to throw something together. Since we were meeting up with a few other families to trick or treat, we thought we'd get into the spririt a little. My last minute, 5-minute costume was Tiger Mom since I was always trying and failing to be a real tiger mom! Mr. BAW decided to go with Ted Lasso since he has a similar jacket.

We ended up meeting up with about six families, Dipper and Mabel split up since the boys are always running from home to home so fast that the girls just fall behind. At the end of the evening, we all met up again and headed home, tired and full of candy. Each kid hauled home about 2 pounds of candy each! The next day, we sorted the candies and ended up donating most of them to the school. We still have enough candy to last til Christmas! Overall, we had a really fun and safe Halloween. Next year, Halloween will be on a Monday...Boooo.
