We recently re-discovered the Arts District in Downtown LA
. We've been trying various restaurants in that area, some high end, others low brow.
A couple of weekends ago, we tried Edibol
on a friend's recommendation. It's a casual place right in the middle of an art school. The food was good and the vib was pleasant. After dinner, we walked around and discovered a little urban garden and another restaurant we'd like to try at a later time. And, since we were in the Arts District, we encountered random art on our way to a "cool" little ice cream shop, pun intended.

Last Days of Summer
Wow! In the blink of an eye, summer break is coming to an end and so is August. I almost let August sneaked by without a blog post. I can't believe that my little girl is going to be a big kindergartener in a week!! Eek! If you ask her whether she's excited about going to kindergarten, she'll nod shyly and then say that she's also "a little nervous." What a sweetheart! We are so, so happy that we're going to have ONE drop off and pick up for the next four years!
In other news, we took a quick trip up to San Francisco to see some friends and family (more on that later) and had a wonderful time. However, we did end up missing the big solar eclipse because the entire bay area was completely socked in! We drove as fast as we could south and east but couldn't escape the deep cloud cover before the eclipse was over. Hopefully, you were able to witness the amazing event in person. I still talked to kids about what the eclipse was and why it is always a new moon during a solar eclipse and always a full moon during a lunar eclipse. So we'll just wait another seven years for the next solar eclipse!
In the mean time, enjoy the pictures of the kids getting muddy at the beach back in July.
