EMOTIONS
I am about to make up for not bloggging enough with a serious dump of photos! I believe this may be my biggest picture share in one post ever! Earlier this month, while Mr. BAW and Buzz went out of state for a couple of Taekwondo tournaments, Ahgoo and I went to see the exhibits at the
Hospital of Emotions. We've been to a few immersive art installations before, including
Omega Mart in Las Vegas,
Vangogh Immersive Experience, and
Team Lab in Tokyo. They've all been pretty cool experiences so I thought Hospital of Emotions would be an interesting experience. I also took advantage of Buzz not being around since he hates hospitals and perhaps would not enjoy this as much. So the short description of this is that there is an empty hospital in LA, the St. Vincent Behavioral Health Campus to be exact, that they handed over to 70 artists world-wide to design each room on all four floors with 80 rooms total. Each floor is assigned an emotion; joy, love, fear, anger, hope, sadness, gratitude (or compassion). Outside each hospital room there's a description of the artist and the installation. Although not as grand and polished as the other immersive experiences, it was an interesting concept. It's definitely not for everyone, especially if you don't like hospitals in general. Some of the rooms are definitely not for everyone, especially "fear" rooms. I've posted "just a few" pictures of the rooms, ha! There were a few that were too "scary" and strange to post. My favorites are room with the flowers and mirrors (picture 10 below), the color IVs (picture 16 below), and the blue ribbons which looked like blue hangin glass at first (picture 30 below). So as you can see, I prefer order and calmness over dark and chaotic. There were a few interactive rooms, like the stickie room, where you get to draw or leave a note. But the majority of the rooms are just visual with a plexi-glass barrier. At the end of the visit, you walk through this "flower shop" where all the flowers are made of pipe cleaners. The flowers are truly beautiful and each stem costs $5. You can purchase the flowers and they wrap it up with a cute cardboard bouquet for you. Overall, it was a unique experience but not for everyone, especially since the tickets are $50 each. But I hope that my pictures below give you a good idea of this experience, espeically if you don't live in LA and will not likely be able to visit this art exhibit.
