Happy Graduation and Father's Day!
After a full week of summer camp, I've gotten used to having to make the kids lunch everyday. I learned from pre-school to just come up with one week's worth of menu and repeat each week. This has been an amazing time-saving and stress-saving solution! At this age, the kids don't mind the repetition of the foods they like anyway. Plus, I do vary the fruits/snacks along with the meal depending on what's fresh from the market. I also eliminate those lunch foods from their dinner menu for the summer. Dinner is much easier to monitor, if they don't like the food, I'll be there to give them something else. So for lunch, I make sure to give them foods I know they like and will eat.
In other news, we're getting somewhat hopeful that the house remoldeling may actually be done in about two more months. So optimistic, that we're thinking of getting our gardening service back on again in July. Fingers crossed!
For now, let me show you a few pictures from our visit to the
Korean Friendship Bell in San Pedro a few months ago. The structure is beautiful, but since it's right by the ocean and it was early Spring, it was very windy and chilly. Enjoy the pictures!

Summer Is Here!
May Gray lasted about two weeks. But as soon as June arrived, we've had nothing but blue skies and amazing weather, just in time for the start of summer camp for the kids! I might be jumping to conclusions a bit early to claim this, but I have a feeling that we may skip June Gloom entirely this year. So what better way to celebrate the lack of June Gloom than with an ice cream story?
When I was pregnant with Buzz, I had an incredible ice cream craving for the entire nine months!! Never been a huge ice cream person before my pregnancy, I had to have a McDonald's Reese's McFlurry every single day! I was completely addicted to it, I craved it. Amazingly, that craving when away immediately after Buzz was born. Guess what? Buzz LOVES ice cream. I can honestly say that he made me eat a McFlurry everyday! Then came my pregnancy with Ahgoo...I had a completely different craving. I craved spicy and savory foods right from the start. So you would expect that Ahgoo likes spicy and savory foods. However, you wouldn't think that she would hate ice cream right? I mean, what kid would hate ice cream??? Well, for the first six years of her life Ahgoo HATED ice cream. She tells us that it's too cold. She would eat yogurt (regular, not the frozen kind) but refuse to eat ice cream. If we all go out for an ice cream treat, she'd just ask for candy toppings like sprinkles or gummy candy. For years, we'd ask her to try everytime we go get ice cream and she would always refuse. Until one evening last month we decided to go for an after dinner treat at
Handel's Ice Cream. We again asked her to try one lick of Buzz's ice cream. Maybe it was all the peer pressure, but she decided to give it another try and this time, something clicked for her! She liked the mint chocolate chip ice cream!! We were so happy that she's finally enjoying something the rest of the family enjoys that we even got her her very own mini-cone! Don't get me wrong, she still doesn't love ice cream the way Buzz and Mr. BAW does. But she'll have it occasionally, like me. By the way, my favorite ice cream of all times is the
McConnell's Turkish Coffee ice cream.
I am also eagerly awaiting for another summer ritual in our area, the shedding of the peacock feathers! Mating season is in full swing and the crazy fowls are screaming day and night. I anticipate that in another week or so, many will start to shed those feathers!! Happy Summer and an early happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
