HAPPY EASTER AND MORE TRAVEL PICS
I hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend. My In Laws visited us from Arizona and the kids had a blast riding their skateboard and scooter at Cal State Long Beach. Besides getting their Easter baskets full of chocolates and toys, they invented an Easter egg hunt game in our house with Grandma. The three of them must have spent an hour taking turns hiding empty plastic eggs in our living room. The game ended with one egg still missing because Ahgoo forgot where she hid one. They all had such a blast, I occasionally gave hiding place advice in between photo editing.
Even though I've been much more judgemental about taking travel pics, avoiding taking too many pictures of one thing, I still ended up with over two hundred pictures. This next set of pictures came from our little side trip to Malmo, Sweden. It was literally a 45 minute train ride from Copenhagen to Sweden. The countries are so close to each other that we didn't even need our passports, even though we did bring them. But at the same time, even though they are so close, they used a different currency and did not accept the Danish krone.
Malmo is lovely, but very much like Copenhagen. There are some beautiful older architectures and some newer buildings. Though the skies were beautiful that day in Malmo, it was so windy and cold there that we only walked through the city to get to our lunch destination, Bullen. We had an amazing two-hour lunch there. Then we took a 30 minute bus ride to Lund, one of the most charming cities I've ever been to. That will be my next picture series. But first, let me show you around Malmo, Sweden. The city had lots of cute bronze statues around. My MIL even found her mother's maiden namesake and took a picture under it. I also found a sign that made me chuckle, the name had 22 letters in it! Even though we didn't spend a ton of time in Malmo, I still managed to take a few pictures around the city. Enjoy!

BEAUTIFUL COPENHAGEN
Since the sunshine god granted us an amazing rain free week in Copenhagen, we took full advantage! We literally walked an average of about six miles every day. The kids were especially amazing. They did not complain once! Not only did they keep up with the adults, they even ran and jumped on many occasions. Since we walked everywhere, my next series of pictures are just an overview of the places we've walked to throughout the city of Copenhagen. We did break up our walk with a one-hour boat tour one day. But other than that, we walked to our destinations and walked some more at those destinations. We definitely earned our Danishes! Enjoy the beautiful city of Copenhagen and you might see sites you recognize and some you've never seen before! Enjoy our city tour!
Note: As you scroll through the pictures, you may be wondering "Where's the Little Mermaid?" Well, turns out that she's waaaay out of the city with no other points of interest along the way. We did go right by her on the boat tour but we only got to see her backside, which was not her best side. I still took a picture of her but it was not a blog-quality picture so I decided not to show it. Ahgoo was somewhat disappointed we did not get to the Little Mermaid from the docks but she did get to bring hom a little statue of her as a souvenir.

SPRING BREAK!
After nine years with kids, I was finally ready to take an international trip! I still wanted to just take an easy trip, some place safe, some place kid-friendly. I had a conversation with Mr. BAW's aunt who splits her time in the US and in London. She gave me some wise advice about traveling with young children. She tells me that if we go to places like Paris or London, we (adults) will want to spend all of our time visiting museums and it would be extremely hard on the kids at their age. Some candidate countries were Canada (Vancouver), Portugal, Denmark. Since Mr. BAW and the kids are big fans of Legos, I thought it would be wonderful to go see the birthplace of Legos! In addition, Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen is the world's second oldest amusement park. So it was decided that we would take a trip to Denmark, to Billund for Legoland and Lego House, then fly to Copenhagen to Tivoli Gardens and see the world famous canals. We invited my In-Laws to join us for the trip. I think it's wonderful to have the kids travel with their grandparents as much as possible. They will forever remeber their times with Grandpa and Grandma.
So we began planning our spring break trip to Denmark. As planning started, we discovered that the first week of April in Denmark is still wintery, many establishments are slowly transitioning out of winter mode. In fact,
Lego House and Legoland is only opened until March 31 and will be closed for the first two weeks of April! So we had to fly into
Billund on March 30 in order to visit Legoland and Lego House. We did book our flights and hotel and even pre-order Legoland tickets. However, as luck would have it, our flight to Billund was cancelled due to the grounding of the Boeing airplanes. The airline ended up changing our flights so that we would arrive in Billund on April 1! If you look up Billund on Google Maps, you'll see that there is literally nothing but farmland around Legoland and Lego House. So if Legoland and Lego House are closed, there is literally nothing else to see or do in Billund. We were pretty sad that we could not see Lego House and Legoland. I think Mr. BAW and I were more upset than the kids, they were more excited about
Tivoli Gardens. In the end, we decided to change our flights and spend an extra day in Copenhagen. That turned out to be great since there were so much to see in Copenhagen.
Even though we had to change our plans, the travel gods were on our side. Since making travel plans, I started tracking the weather in Denmark and it literally rained every single day in Denmark. I was planning for at least a few rainy days while in Copenhagen. However, Spring had arrived on the dot! On April 1, the skies cleared and we enjoyed beautiful blue skies the entire time we were in Copenhagen! It was still cold, in the 40's and low 50's, but it was absolutely glorious! I want to kickoff my Copenhagen picture series by showing you glorious spring pictures of Copenhagen! After a month of rain, shops brought out their most beautiful flowers, people came out to enjoy sidewalk cafes, and the city prepares for Easter! Enjoy! More travel pics to come.
