CHANGE IS IN THE AIR

We are going through the annual rituals of daylight savings time spring ahead, the first day of spring (Vernal Equinox), and it's officially mating season for the peafowls. But this year, there is an added element of change...change is sprouting out like my tomato seedlings. Several weeks ago, the kids schools dropped the COVID mask mandates. I started going back to the office two days a week to start. I am both sad and glad at the same time...it was good to see my co-workers, folks are all still the same. But I do miss my other co-worker (Kepler) on days I'm in the office. He's slowly adjusting to my "gone days" as well. Then, this week, we are going through another major re-organization at work. We've had several major re-orgs over the past three years. But this one is different, this one will break apart my group...the same group of people I've worked closely with for the past four years. We are a good, tight group. We worked really well with each other, we respected each other and truly enjoyed being part of the team. So although I've been through many large job changes before, I will really miss our little group. Last night, I woke up at 3am and was unable to go back to sleep. I didn't think I had too much apprehension about the change but I guess subconsciously I was impacted more than I thought. We shall see what changes will bring, I suppose. Life will keep changing and I hope it'll be for the better. Other exciting changes coming are Ahgoo getting to take her phase 1 braces off in six weeks and we are doing a big organizational cleanup of our garage and basement area with the help of a professional! I can't help but quote the old adage, "change is the only constant."

PI DAY!!

This Monday is filled with exciting events! We just sprung forward by an hour from Day Light Savings time change...it was rough getting up this morning in the dark! Also, it's PI Day today! Did you know that the circumference of every perfect circle is about 6 times the length of its radius or 3 times the diameter*?? Kepler knew. He also knew that the planets don't orbit the Sun in perfect circles but, rather, in elliptical orbits. Now that's one smart dog we have, even if he did fall asleep doing geometry...

*Note that the equation on Kepler's paper should've been C=3*D, not C=3*R.

When you don't use it, you start to lose it! I'm definitely embarrassed to have made that circumference equation mistake. So glad I have school-age kids to make me recall these simple math knowlege so I don't lose it for good!

ANGUISH

Exactly one year ago, I blogged about how ignorance breeds hate and violence. Today, the world is in chaos again. I can not express the anguish I am feeling seeing the suffering of innocent people all to feed the ego of a demented man. Gabrielle Blair expressed it best in her writing of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

If only the world were run by Kepler...he'd make friends, not war. I'm sharing another JHW orginal artwork captures Kepler the best, he's a social and friendly dog. He would befriend anyone if he can...even a bee.
